The only pre-op photo I had was one where I was wearing glasses 🥲 (+I added one more!) I had the surgery in Busan, and I also had upper/inner epicanthoplasty and ptosis correction! I have sunken eyes. Before the surgery, my mother next to me asked the doctor to make it as dramatic as possible, but the doctor said that if he made these eyes dramatic, they would look too intense, and he pursued a natural look, so he set the line low! In the end, I’m satisfied! Even my mother says it’s a relief, saying that if it had been any higher, I probably would have had sausage eyes;; I think there is always a reason when a doctor advises against something! (My mother has protruding eyes, so she got an outline crease, but I have extremely, extremely, extremely sunken eyes, so I think that’s even more why🥲) Since it hasn’t even been two months yet, there is still a little bit of swelling, but I don’t think the line will get any lower from here! When it had only been a short time since my double eyelid surgery, it looked like my eye shape had changed a lot too, but as time passed, it gradually changed to look not that different from my old eye shape! If you’re worried your eye shape might change, you don’t need to worry too much, but since it is a surgery that creates double eyelids, I think you do need to be prepared for your eyes to look a little more heavy/intense. (Especially with sunken eyes, even more so.) Because of this, wanting puppy-like eyes to become cat-like eyes! Something like that... is realistically impossible. Going from cat-like to puppy-like may be somewhat possible with lateral lower canthoplasty, but I don’t think the reverse works!! Still, my gentle-looking face became a bit more defined with epicanthoplasty, so I’m satisfied! There is some scarring from the epicanthoplasty, and on days when my condition isn’t good (e.g., the day after wearing contact lenses), the epicanthoplasty area turns red. It’s hard to cover with makeup!! Isn’t it kind of similar to people saying they get redness after nose surgery?! Also, since it is definitely double eyelid surgery, as you can tell from the photos, my bare face does look a bit intense. The higher the line is set (or rather, the higher it ends up settling. It’s hard to reproduce exactly the line you want!), the more I think you need to wear more dramatic makeup! For me too, it looks a bit better when I wear contacts and do eyeshadow, aegyo-sal makeup, and eyeliner.
On the other hand, I used to hear a lot that my eyes were cute, so I do slightly regret having the surgery, but after ptosis correction and double eyelid surgery, my eyes definitely open more comfortably and got a little bigger, so even if I could go back, I think I would still get the surgery! And if you’re thinking about double eyelid surgery, I think it’s right to assume that after double eyelid surgery, you can never rub your eyes for the rest of your life! For people who often wore makeup, you probably already have that habit, so it won’t matter, but I’ve only recently started practicing makeup, so maybe that’s why my habit of rubbing my eyes hadn’t gone away yet. After surgery, it got fixed in order to survive(?) You just can’t rub the double eyelid surgery area; under the eyes is okay! You can gently remove eye discharge too, as long as you don’t apply force. (People who didn’t have epicanthoplasty can probably wipe away eye discharge more casually too!) You just need to be careful with exactly the area where the double eyelid surgery was done! Under the eyebrows!!
Anyway! Students or adults who are considering double eyelid surgery should think a bit about how satisfied they are with their own eyes right now. I originally really liked my eyes, so I did regret it a little afterward, but if you often use double eyelid tape, or if you don’t like your monolids or inner double eyelids, I don’t think you’ll probably regret it! Other than your eyes losing some uniqueness (since they become more common-looking eyes), I think everything else is good!!! Lastly!! Maybe it’s especially because I have sunken eyes, but I hear a lot that I look more masculine after double eyelid surgery! I think it’s because the distance between my eyes and eyebrows became much closer!! Please keep this in mind too! Everyone with sunken eyes, fighting!!
