Yesterday, I went for a consultation at one of the big three clinics. I only have a straight silicone implant in the nasal bridge (no particular nasal tip manipulation), but they said the silicone extends all the way down to the nasal tip. They said that this is basically the same as having touched the nasal tip, so if I only remove the silicone, the tip could become upturned or depressed. I also thought that since the silicone has been in there for 10 years, the cartilage may have been compressed, and maybe that could be addressed with cartilage repositioning. But I’m still not sure how there could be a possibility of the tip lifting when it’s not an L-shaped implant and I don’t have a columellar strut placed either... Anyway, I went for a silicone removal consultation, but they also brought up revision surgery. They said that because there is a risk of the nose becoming upturned, if I care about the nose shape to some extent, placing a support strut would be the right thing to do~ They said if I really give up on everything and don’t care about the shape, then just removing it is an option, but otherwise, placing support is the correct approach. But it’s not like I can completely not care about the shape... They said the revision surgery would involve placing a columellar strut using septal cartilage or ear cartilage to support the nasal tip, and since it’s my own tissue, there’s no risk of side effects. But still, I feel uneasy about putting something in there no matter what... There are even people with columellar struts who feel uncomfortable and want full removal, so is it really right to put this in? The columella could become uncomfortable, and who knows what other side effects could happen; if it won’t become upturned, then just removing it would be right, but blindly placing a support strut just because there’s a possibility of upturning seems a bit wrong, doesn’t it..? Please share your opinions!!
