It’s been 1 year and 2 months since I had my three-type contouring surgery, and it’s been 1 year and 4 months since my ex dumped me after sending me the text, “Your eyes and nose are pretty, but your face shape gets more and more grotesque. Let’s break up.” He was the one who asked me out first, and after about 2 weeks of dating, he suddenly broke up with me by text... I couldn’t even reply. He sent just that one message and blocked everything about me... haha. I don’t know how shocked and hurt I was at the time. I woke up in the morning and there was just that one-line text waiting for me... I just couldn’t go to work, so I took the day off and cried the whole day.
It wasn’t just the breakup itself, it was also the feelings I’d been suppressing all that time because of my face shape that burst out, so I cried, screamed, and spaced out all day.
I’ve always been stressed about my face shape too. But I was too scared of surgery to do it, and then that day I decided right away that I had to get the surgery? haha
The best revenge is becoming much prettier, isn’t it? And I also wanted to stop stressing about my face shape myself.
I used up vacation and half-days to go around getting consultations. What mattered most was that the surgery had to end successfully in one shot, with no revision surgery, and above all, I had absolutely no intention of entrusting my face to a cheap place where I wouldn’t even know who was operating on me.
I’m the type to be pretty suspicious, and ultra-cheap hospitals are hard for me to understand. Would a director with a lot of contouring experience really operate on me personally for such a tiny amount of money compared with other places? There must be a reason it’s cheap, right? I had those doubts, so I ruled out places that were too cheap, had too little experience, or were huge hospitals.
I looked mainly at hospitals that specialize only in contouring. I was pretty picky about it. - whether the hospital specializes only in contouring - whether they do not just do one area well, but can also handle cheekbones, square jaw, and chin without problems - whether they have at least 15 years of experience in contouring surgery, at minimum 10 years - whether there are posts about medical accidents
So the place I chose was where I had my surgery. The cost was a bit high, but if I tried to save a few hundred and then ended up needing revision surgery because of a problem later, I’d lose a huge amount of money and time, so I broke my savings and scraped together my emergency fund to go ahead with the surgery.
And what surprised me on the day of surgery was that when I was lying in the operating room and the nurses were preparing me, I noticed a pretty large monitor off to the side, and on the screen there were dozens of lines drawn on my CT image. It was too small to see clearly, but there were numbers written by each line too, and I think they had measured everything out one by one. Seeing my bone image designed on that screen made me think, wow... I really chose the right hospital, I really met the right director, this surgery has to go well. And when I opened my eyes after closing them, the surgery was over. Of course, I’m satisfied to the point of crying from relief looking at my face now after surgery. If I’d known my face shape would turn out this pretty, I should have done it as soon as possible instead of crying under stress all that time. Honestly... I was just dumbfounded.. haha
Swelling goes down differently for everyone, but mine seems to have gone down at a normal pace. And everyone worries a lot about cheek sagging, right? I worried about that too, so instead of a standard cheekbone surgery, I had a cheekbone surgery that also included lifting.
And for the square jaw and chin, if you remove too much, it can’t be restored, so I’d recommend not overdoing it and keeping it natural. For me, I thought having a slight angle below the ear made the overall image a bit more atmospheric and refined, so I kept it natural.
Don’t just insist that you want your face smaller and ask them to remove as much bone as possible. You have to remove bone in a way that matches your current face and keeps the proportions harmonious. The director who operated on me also emphasized overall facial harmony. He said if you recklessly try to make everything as small as possible and remove too much, the proportions will get ruined, the harmony will collapse, and the face can end up looking really strange and beyond fixing... and that it’s just wasting money because it can’t be restored.
I really hope everyone thinks it through carefully.
Especially with contouring, it seems women worry much more than men do. Once the face shape changes, you really do look like a different person.
