It has been 6 months since my surgery!! To leave a review first, it turned out naturally and just the way I wanted. I had a slight nasal hump, and I wanted it shaved down and only augmented by about the same amount that was shaved. They reflected my opinion and gave me an in-depth consultation for over an hour (maybe I happened to go at a relaxed time), so I was able to get detailed information, freely ask about anything I was curious about, and hear the answers.
To start with the conclusion, I wanted hump nose correction, so I visited 10 clinics in person and had consultations everywhere, from famous places to less well-known ones. I went to both large hospitals and private clinics, and I was deciding between three hospitals before choosing this ENT clinic. I’ll write the reasons below!
I absolutely wanted it to look natural and harmonize with my face. For my nose, 3.5 mm silicone was inserted, and the bone was not shaved at all. At first I had asked them to shave the bone, but then I thought that if my body rejected the silicone and it had to be removed, I would have to live with my nose already lowered, so I proceeded without shaving the bone! I asked for a columellar-labial angle of 90 degrees and asked for a natural result. We discussed my skin condition (whether it stretched well, whether it was thick), whether I had enough septal cartilage, and so on. I wrote below the other explanations they gave me about possible side effects related to my nose!
They did not remove all the stitches at once, but slowly removed them over 3 weeks! They only removed stitches from areas where the skin had healed (because removing them from unhealed areas could leave a wound and possibly cause infection). I really liked that kind of detail. I had the surgery thinking, “Don’t even think about revision surgery, let’s finish it in one go!” Even if I didn’t like it 100% at once, I thought I definitely had to fix the parts I was unhappy with.
A very straight nose would not suit my face, so we consulted and designed it as a semi-straight line, and they understood my needs well. The director also explained the risk of infection very well. I also had rhinitis surgery at the same time. They straightened my deviated septum during the rhinitis surgery and also cauterized the fat inside my nose with a laser. When you read reviews, people say it bends again and rhinitis surgery returns to how it was before. It has only been 6 months for me, but breathing has become much more comfortable! If it comes back, then there’s nothing I can do haha.. But right now it’s so good!! I can taste things better and breathing is more comfortable!
There is still a bit of scarring on the columella, but I can see it getting lighter little by little! After nose surgery, my face looks much more refined, and interestingly, my asymmetry was corrected too. Since my crooked nose was straightened, my face looks neater, and I’m very satisfied. My nose is moderately higher, the nasal tip is moderately round and pointed, and I’m very satisfied with my side profile!!! From the side, since it is silicone, it is slightly noticeable, but from the front, people I know really cannot tell! When talking to someone, there is almost no reason to talk while looking at my side profile! Even if there were, my side profile is so pretty.. so it doesn’t matter!!
Now, unless I say I had nose surgery, people don’t even know, and it came out naturally in the design I was aiming for. (My older sister also had surgery with the same director at this hospital last week. It was good enough that I recommended it to family. I’m very meticulous, so I visited a lot of hospitals in person!!) (The X-ray photo was taken at another hospital.)
First, the reason I trusted them more than other hospitals was that the consultation staff explained the schedule and progress in detail by date, by week, at the one-month mark, three-month mark, and so on. They also sensibly coordinated my schedule with the hospital visit schedule, so I thought, “They are really good at their work.” Also, unlike other hospitals, they did not pressure me with talk about reservation deposits, reviews, discounts, etc. It was also comfortable to talk about the materials to be used and the materials I wanted. (They said that if there was enough of my own septal cartilage material, they would not use other materials, which made me trust them even more+++.)
And the decisive factor was that the director was simply kind!!!! The directors at other hospitals were also very kind, but they all looked tired, and other directors talked a lot about their own style and about noses in general. But this director talked more about the kind of nose that would suit my face, listened carefully to the feeling I wanted, and explained in detail information related to my nose (my nose was crooked, my nostrils were uneven, the hump, and the bone beside the nose). If I were to have surgery, they also frankly told me about side effects without hesitation.
In my case, I really liked that they let me choose between options, such as if we correct the crooked nose, the nostrils could become uneven, or if we match the nostrils, the starting point of the nasal bridge would need to be slightly to the left. It’s best if side effects don’t happen, but in the end, the patient is the one who has to bear them, so I wanted to choose for myself.
The nurses at the reception counter, the nurses on the 3rd floor, and the nurses in the operating room were all just kind.. If I went at my reserved time, there was no waiting around. They remembered my name and face without me having to say anything, including what I needed to check in for and that I needed to go downstairs for treatment, so I could receive care and check in quickly without any inconvenience. I really, really liked this point too. Everyone was so good at their job that even when I asked about things I was curious about, documents, treatments I needed, ointment, and many other things, I never once felt uncomfortable. Really.
There was also a female director, and even she was extremely kind. I always went right after opening for treatment. After surgery, for follow-up progress and stitch removal (the nurse did it - when removing the stitches, she did it carefully so it wouldn’t hurt. This is personal, but I lost my AirPods in the operating room, and they found them and kept them safely. After the surgery, when the anesthesia hadn’t worn off, they put my shoes on for me and talked to me a lot, which was nice!! / It may have been because I really wasn’t waking up from anesthesia.) The female director checked the condition of my nose after surgery, and she checked it very thoroughly. Even when I asked questions, she explained in detail one by one how I should manage it, so I was grateful!
It was morning, so they could have been tired, but everyone was so nice! The surgery itself was one thing, but they took such good care of me afterward.. I went to the hospital two to three times a week, and after hearing about other places that ignore you after surgery (stories from hospitals my friends went to), receiving care here made me think it was normal for everyone to be this kind and provide this level of aftercare.
The facilities, care, and location were also very good. After nose surgery, you look terrible, but the private room, IV area, TMS room, and laser room were all separated by curtains, so there were few chances to come face-to-face with other patients. It seemed like the nurses arranged things in order so we would avoid running into each other as much as possible. The restroom was clean and didn’t smell, and I liked that too.
Also, after nose surgery I was in pain and sensitive, but the nurse kindly asked first if I needed anything, whether I was cold or hot or thirsty, or if I had to wait a long time, and handled things really well accordingly. There are also two pharmacies below the hospital, and within a 3-minute walk (even the pharmacists were so kind and explained the medication well). There is also a cafe right downstairs, so if you arrive early and don’t want to wait at the hospital, it’s really nice to wait at the cafe downstairs. The coffee price was reasonable, you could choose the beans, and it was tasty! They also stamp your card, and if you drink 10 cups, they give you one cup free. The location is good for walking, and buses, subway, everything location-wise is just good! Almost everything is within a 10-minute walk haha.
I highly recommend it!! So I’m planning to go to this hospital even when I need ENT treatment!! Since I asked for a natural result, correction was my goal!! Compared with others, mine is not as polished or glamorous!
