I’m considering silicone removal because of my crooked nose. I have silicone, ear cartilage at the nasal tip, and the cartilage was tied. My current goals are to correct the crooked nose and to avoid any further revision surgery.
I’m considering two options.
1. Simple silicone removal (closed approach) If the crooked silicone is removed, and the silicone extends all the way to the nasal tip, the cartilage may have been compressed toward the crooked side, so there may be a possibility of uneven nostrils afterward. But if I want correction of uneven nostrils based only on that possibility, it enters the realm of revision surgery. Revision surgery is open approach, and the cost becomes four to five times more expensive.
2. Silicone removal & reinforcement of the step-off with crushed ear cartilage & minimal restoration such as capsule work (closed approach) If only the silicone is removed, there may be a step-off, so ear cartilage would be harvested again and used to reinforce the step-off. If any areas are needed during surgery, minimal restoration would be necessary.
In case 1, if a step-off develops, depending on the degree, there’s a chance it may need to be touched again. And I heard that even in case 2, the crushed tissue could be absorbed irregularly, causing unevenness and a step-off.
What would everyone here do?
