I had a typical Korean nose, and I had been getting by with nose filler. Seeing friends around me who became prettier after nose surgery made me think about trying it too, but whenever I searched, only tons of complication cases came up, so I kept giving up. Then I decided to try raising only the nasal tip slightly with donated costal cartilage, without even putting in silicone. I did nothing else and only had one piece of donated costal cartilage placed in my nasal tip, but at 2 weeks I’m already looking at revision surgery because of cartilage show-through.
My health is at the top level out of high/middle/low, I’ve never drunk alcohol or smoked in my life, and I exercise more than 3 times a week, so I have a super sturdy constitution, but I still got a complication just 2 weeks after nose surgery.
The reason I see this as the hospital’s fault is that I was very worried about complications, and I knew myself that my nasal skin was thick, so I repeatedly asked them not to raise it too much because I was worried about cartilage show-through or the nasal tip breaking through. But the doctor repeated about 3 times that if we did that, the shape would not come out pretty. Until the end, I stressed that I wanted them to focus more on function and complications than the shape, and that if it was raised too excessively, because my nasal skin is thick, the skin’s tendency to return could cause the cartilage to show through at the nasal tip or cause complications. I researched this for 15 years before getting surgery, seriously,,,,, I deliberately went somewhere more expensive than other places, hoping it would turn out even a little better,,,,
All of this is in the recording file,, Currently, my nasal tip is higher than I expected, and sure enough, there is cartilage show-through at 2 weeks.
Usually, if cartilage show-through happens because the skin has become thinner, it tends to happen after 1-2 years, but I had cartilage show-through right after surgery, as soon as the stitches were removed. It seems like a misjudgment by the doctor, but the doctor calmly says that because my nasal tip skin is thicker than other people’s, if they raised it only a little, it seemed like the nasal tip would not lift, so they raised it a little higher than for others; because of the skin’s tendency to return, the skin seems to be thinning; this condition requires revision surgery; in the revision surgery, they will shave down the donated costal cartilage to lower the height and add artificial dermis over the nasal tip. -> Right now, I’m horrified by the idea of revision surgery itself. As soon as the surgery is over, I have to have my nose opened again^^
1. Why did they raise the nasal tip using only donated costal cartilage from the beginning, without any cushioning material? 2. I repeatedly asked them not to raise my nose high, so why did they raise it high and end up making me need revision surgery?
In this kind of situation, what should I say to the hospital The exact complication I repeatedly warned them about has happened. They knew in advance that my nasal skin was thick, but they still say they raised it high to make it more defined because they thought it might not lift if they put in only a little since my nasal skin is thick. And now they want to do revision surgery to add artificial dermis. Ha,, seriously,, I didn’t even put in silicone, and I asked them to raise only the nasal tip slightly with donated costal cartilage, but they charged 4.4 million won for my first nose surgery and couldn’t even do that. I want to go back to before I had nose surgery. Someone please give me advice I can’t even sleep because of my anger. They say they can just open it slightly at the nasal tip and do it, and that it will be over in 30 minutes. Has anyone actually done this? I am furious that I have to have surgery twice in just 2 weeks.
