I had it done in Gangnam~ It’s been three days already.. Today I went in to get disinfected~ Just like I hoped for detailed posts from others before my surgery, I’ll write down as much as possible about how it felt on the day of surgery~^^ If the long post seems boring, hit back-_-!! hehe; My appointment was at 4, but as expected.. I waited for about an hour~ Then just past 5, I got onto the operating table.. After getting on, they covered everything except my face, disinfected my face and eyes, and as I was lying there I was really nervous ㅜ_ㅜ And since I wasn’t wearing makeup and had my face out there with my truly awful skin, I felt so embarrassed, sob... The nurses were all pretty though..-_-;; Then I waited for the director.. but he didn’t come in!! I think I lay there for about 30 minutes ㅜ_ㅜ By then all my nerves were gone and I was starting to get annoyed when he finally came in.. As soon as he came in, he started the design.^^ He drew things for symmetry, like between my eyebrows and the space between my brows, (I guess it was drawn with some special marker? I thought it would wipe off right away, but it apparently comes off after a few days, which shocked me so much ㅜㅜ;; I looked like a clown, especially with the blue color -_-) Then he kept working on the design for quite a while~ When the design was done and he said, “Now we’ll anesthetize,” boom!! -_- I was so nervous ㅜ_ㅜ I’m not sure if he gave the epicanthoplasty injection first;; For epicanthoplasty, my eyes were open while they gave it, and for the double eyelid they didn’t flip the eyelid over, just had me close my eyes and injected it from above.. But the anesthesia I was so scared of was actually not that painful, you know? He just poked a few times with a very thin needle and that was it ^^; Of course it varies by person, but I’ve had seven piercings, so for people with piercings this will be really nothing~ ^^ Honestly, the epicanthoplasty injection does hurt; I tried hard to bear it, and something started running down next to my eye.. probably my tears ㅜ_ㅜ Still, it ends quickly~ ^^ They said straining at that time would make bruising and swelling worse, so I really didn’t strain at all, to the point I could confidently say so!! So even on the day of surgery, the bruising and swelling were definitely less.^^ That part is really important, so please!! don’t strain~ After the anesthesia was done, the nurse said, 'The anesthesia is over~ There’s no more pain now' and I felt such relief, like the whole surgery was already over ㅜ_ㅜ At that moment I really felt like I could breathe again.. I honestly thought that once the anesthesia was done, surgery wouldn’t hurt at all~ But to be honest.. it wasn’t just a matter of feeling it, it actually hurt a bit ㅜ_ㅜ I didn’t feel the cutting or anything like that at all, but when they put the needle in? and when they stitched, especially when they removed the fat!! When they removed the fat, it hurt enough that I told the doctor it hurt.. I could also smell that distinctive smell.. And I could hear some scraping sounds too..-_- it felt like they were removing something;; There was also thread constantly irritating my face^^; And during the surgery they kept pressing hard on my eyes, I don’t know why, but each time it hurt a little. Anyway, the surgery itself wasn’t hugely painful, but for me it was hard to endure that amount of time.. It was a strange sensation ㅜㅜ Besides, even while doing it, they said things like this was a difficult case for me, and after it was over they said it was difficult too..;; I was honestly anxious T-T And the blinking.. I did it quite a lot~ It was more than ten times per eye, I think? I was afraid opening my eyes during surgery would hurt, but the anesthesia was really amazing -_-b But the surgery seemed to take a while.. so I asked, “Is it still far to go?” Then they said, “Do you want us to finish quickly? If you want, we can finish now~” -_-;; So I said, “No, please take your time-_-;;;” T_T;; My eyes must really be difficult ones.. sobbing. Anyway, after the surgery ended they showed me a mirror, ugh..-0- I was completely out of it, and then they suddenly had me look in the mirror, so I really thought, what kind of monster is this ㅜ_ㅜ;; But later, after calming down a bit and looking again, I realized the swelling wasn’t that bad and calmed down^^;;; After that, the surgery ended, I did 20 minutes of cold compresses... and when I came out, oh my, it was 8 o’clock-0- I went in at 5:05 or something... I really thought I was going to faint;; Even though it did seem a bit long.. long, I never thought it would take a full three hours.. Still, I was grateful because it seemed like the doctor paid that much attention to me.. ^^ After finishing this long march (?).. I got an ice pack and left the hospital.. but I wasn’t sure if the anesthesia was wearing off or what, my eyes were throbbing so badly and my head hurt too, I really struggled for one or two hours, and after that it hurt a bit less and became bearable~ ^^ Then my mom looked at me and said she expected me to swell a lot, but I had less swelling than expected~ hehe But at the epicanthoplasty site, eye gunk and -_- crusts like blood scabs got stuck and hardened, which was so uncomfortable and annoying.. Today I went to get disinfected and they cleaned all that off~ now it looks much less swollen, cleaner, and nicer.^^ I’ll keep posting progress photos, so please check them out.. Everyone who has surgery coming up, fighting..^^*
