Thank you for looking at my photos and giving me compliments and interest.. I couldn’t keep up with all the replies and private messages from so many people~ㅋ I’m finally posting my review now.. This is part of what I wrote in my diary before surgery. Sunday, November 7, 2004, 3:03 a.m. The day I came back after watching the movie A Moment to Remember.. My biggest concern and crisis lately is acne. (I even turned down a blind date ㅜㅜ) And the face I most want to have Last week I met ㅇㅇ (a younger acquaintance who had jaw surgery at ** a year ago) and got advice on various things, and I’ve just been waiting for the right timing. Money is the biggest issue, and more than anything I feel guilty toward my parents and I’m scared, but I want to help myself regain confidence. I want to be a woman who is confident in everything and afraid of nothing. It could be something I regret later. It could be something I laugh about. I wish time would pass quickly and February would come. November 20, 2004 While reading surgery reviews in a community, I looked around at clinics and decided on xx Clinic. I liked the nurse who kindly consulted with me over the phone and the affordable surgery fee. Since I couldn’t quit my job, I made an excuse, got an X-ray taken and brought it with me, and went to xx Clinic. The director took photos of my face with a digital camera and started the consultation. He said he would cut it as long as possible without touching the nerve line, and said I would see a lot of effect. When I said I wanted to do my cheekbones and nose too, he said human desire has no end and did not recommend it. The director looked quite confident and the nurses were also quite kind, so I decided on a surgery date right away and left. And every day I lived for the pleasure of watching the D-DAY number on my phone go down... The surgery was on Saturday the 5th. I ate in the morning and went to work, then had to act like I had a toothache. At 4, I met my younger sibling and left for the clinic. When I arrived, I changed only into a gown and went straight into the operating room. I lay on an extremely narrow, hard bed and got an IV. The director came in and marked my face with a pen.. When the nurse put in the anesthetic, my arm started to ache, and after that my memory is hazy. They said the surgery took one hour. (The director had said that taking too long is not good.) When I woke up, my eyes were covered, and because of the severe pressure from the bandages around my face and head, I felt some unknown discomfort and squirmed. My younger sibling held my hand tightly and told me it was okay, so I think I endured because of that. Half-asleep, half-awake, I was moved to a hospital room and lay there, but phlegm kept getting stuck in my throat, so it was very hard. After sending my sibling away (the hospital room was packed with no space for a guardian), I couldn’t sleep, and the bandages wrapped around my face kept tightening with an unpleasant pressure. A night that felt like a whole year passed. The next day, Sunday the 6th Maybe because of gastritis, I felt nauseous and went to the bathroom and vomited just a little water. Then I looked in the mirror and was shocked. A beige compression mask, and on top of that a white tightening bandage. Blood drainage tubes coming out of my mouth.. Only then did it feel real, and I started to regret it. A little later, a caregiver lady came and loaded people who looked just like me into a car, and we arrived at an apartment. The first meal to fill my hungry stomach was before noon. Cream soup, water, juice, and a glass of milk each.. With my mouth only open about the size of a 50-won coin, I ate porridge and took medicine. I watched TV with people, looked at the clock, ate porridge, gargled, and desperately wished only for the blood drainage tubes to be removed. There was an older sister born in 1976 whose lips were more swollen than mine like sausages, and a thirty-year-old older sister who said she had come for cheekbones after jaw surgery.. For 3 days, snoring sounds, severe headaches.. We relied on each other a lot. Monday the 7th.. The blood drainage tubes were pulled out. I was scared because I had heard in reviews that it hurt a lot. The feeling was.. like becoming an artificial robot. A dirty feeling I never want to feel again.. The nurse praised me for enduring it well. (It wasn’t as painful as I thought.) Tuesday the 8th.. My gastritis got worse, and because of the medicine I forced porridge down. The aching symptoms from general anesthesia disappeared, and the pain from the intramuscular injection made my butt ache.. Wednesday the 9th.. Like a scene from the movie The Man in the Iron Mask, I took off the mask, looked in the mirror, and my sibling and I were somewhat satisfied. I was also worried whether I could go to work tomorrow. Looking at each of the faces of the older and younger women staying at the caregiver’s place, we all found each other fascinating. I got another intramuscular injection, pulled my hat down low, and came home. To my startled mom, I made an excuse that I had gone out to play, got sick, and swelled up, and kept eating porridge, gargling with Hexadine, taking walks at night, buying mugwort steam packs at the pharmacy and applying warm compresses.. I worried whether I could go to work with this Shrek-like face.. There was a war going on in my stomach. I desperately wanted a spoonful of rice and a bite of kimchi.. Jajangmyeon, spaghetti, pizza, tteokbokki.. Agh... It feels like this swelling will never go down.. What should I do.. After 18 days.. I had the stitches removed a week ago, gargled for two more days, and it became somewhat livable. I still can’t chew, but I eat tofu and soft foods. I even force down pumpkin porridge, which I dislike. I’m so grateful to be able to eat like this and that the swelling has gone down somewhat.. Every day, I made a steamed towel and applied it to my numb face for 30 minutes, and lived enjoying watching dramas..ㅋ The review wasn’t very useful, was it? Sorry~^^; The surgery was only jaw surgery through an intraoral incision.. I didn’t have money, so I couldn’t do cheekbones. They didn’t really recommend it either. My face is a bit broad. From the front, there was a little in the jaw area, but from the side, the part coming down from the ear was a bit angular, and the cheek area was large. I think I saw a big effect from the side profile. Now I’ve completely forgotten I had surgery, and I’m eating well and doing well~^^ When I went back to the clinic 4 months after surgery, I said I wasn’t satisfied because my face size was the same, and they showed me the photos taken before surgery.. I was really shocked.. The director said I had changed from a man into a woman..ㅋㅋ He said if they hung this photo for clinic promotion, it would be a huge hit..ㅋ My head is a bit big and I have side cheekbones, but I cover them with hair, and since I don’t have an angular jaw anymore, I wear hats confidently.. And I moved to a workplace with a lot of people.. Everyone tells me I’m pretty, so I feel so good~^^ I did it thinking that even if I died during surgery, I would have no regrets.. Everyone, please choose carefully and prudently too.. Thank you for reading..
