This is my review of the consultations I’ve had so far regarding removal of silicone from my nose.
ㄷㄹ, CT scan: yes, consultation fee: 10,000 won I liked that they explained my current condition in detail while looking at the CT.
For the uncomfortable area on the nasal bridge, there are two possible causes: the capsule may have thickened, or it may be due to calcification. There is an area where the silicone was inserted short, and it will rise based on that point. Possible surgical scope (silicone removal, nasal tip): remove only the silicone. It would be better not to touch the nasal tip. They will remove part of the capsule and remove calcification as much as possible, but some parts are removed blindly, so there may be limitations there. They will smooth it out, but it may look much wider and flatter than now. Postoperative side effects: taping for 1 week. Swelling will not be severe, but it needs to be managed. Follow-ups at 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, and 1 year. Surgery cost: 3 million won
ㅇㅂㅋ It seems like they would do a bit more manipulation and were pushing a straight-to-slightly-upturned line. By my standards, it was a more glamorous nose line rather than natural. Current condition Possible surgical scope (silicone removal, nasal tip) Silicone removal + capsule removal + absorbable collagen membrane + ear cartilage for the step-off Postoperative shape Postoperative side effects What I want: silicone removal + removal of the scar between the brows + I don’t mind leaving the nasal tip as is, just minor touch-up. No autologous costal cartilage. Surgery cost: 4.1 million won
ㅎㄴㅂ Current condition Surgical method: (silicone removal, nasal tip), silicone removal + leave the capsule as is + calcification removal + reduce the step-off with ear cartilage Postoperative shape: the result after removal is difficult to predict. But the nasal tip is supported by the septum, so it will not lift up or anything. Postoperative side effects
ㅇㄷㅇㅇㅇ Not an overly confident or especially friendly style, but an honest and straightforward consultation. Current condition: not contracture. The symptoms do match inflammation, but the frequency is low and it is not something that requires immediate surgery. Rather than the bridge becoming lower, the issue is that the nasal bridge may have become bumpy because it was compressed by the silicone. They will smooth it out, but I need to be aware of that before having surgery. If I want to remove it preemptively, I can. Regarding the skin between the brows, they cannot guarantee that it will completely improve. Surgical method: open approach, silicone removal, smoothing only Cost: 3 million won
ㄷㅍㄹㅅ: It was disappointing because the consultation felt perfunctory.
Based on my consultation results so far, the places that spoke most realistically about the postoperative outcome were ㄷㄹ and ㅇㅇㅇ. I received almost the same consultation from both, but the differences were whether they took a CT or not and their opinions on calcification. Their opinions were the same on partial capsule removal, silicone removal, and leaving the nasal tip as is.
I have an additional consultation scheduled at ㅊㅁ. The places I’m debating whether to visit more are around ㅅㅅㅇ, ㅅㅇ, ㅅㅁㅇ, and ㄳ.
