I went to get consultations for double eyelid surgery in Daejeon..
★What several doctors said about the condition of my eyes: slightly protruding eyes. Drooping eyelids. Not much fat in the eyelids. The distance between my eyes is short, so I can’t get large double eyelids.
1. Double eyelid surgery (incision) - ㅂㄼ
: I went because, after researching online, I heard the director doesn’t recommend unnecessary procedures.
They said my eyelids droop a lot, so I should only do incisional double eyelid surgery. Since this was the last clinic I visited in Daejeon, I asked about epicanthoplasty or ptosis correction, and they said I didn’t need those.
I wondered if I should do it here, but the director said I had a lot of fat in my eyelids, so my trust dropped a little. Other doctors had said I didn’t have much fat...
-->I went around Seoul for consultations too, and they said my eyes themselves are slightly protruding, but because my forehead bone is higher, they look sunken, so in the end they are a sunken-eye style, and fat should be removed.
It was a place that recommended fewer(?) unnecessary things, but when I asked about epicanthoplasty, they said 70-80% exposure of the lacrimal lake is normal(?) or ideal(?), and if it’s around 50%, some doctors may recommend it depending on their aesthetic preference and some may not. They said I need to make my own judgment on this.
2. Double eyelid surgery (buried suture) - ㅍㅇㅅ
: The director was more famous for noses than eyes, but when I said I wanted it to look natural, they said just double eyelid surgery with the buried suture method would probably be enough.
I liked the line itself here, but maybe because I went without an appointment, the consultation seemed to end after about 4 minutes... So I’m not sure.
3. Ptosis correction, double eyelid surgery (director’s original buried suture technique), epicanthoplasty - ㄱㄹㄹ
: They emphasized that there would be no effect without ptosis correction. But they were the only one among the Daejeon-area consultations to recommend it, so I was a bit... hmm...
-->But I went to 2 places in Gangnam, and both told me to do ptosis correction haha. When I looked up Gangnam reviews, I saw a review saying it seems like all Gangnam clinics tell you to do ptosis correction.
4. Double eyelid surgery (incision), epicanthoplasty - ㅁㅇ
: There weren’t many reviews. The consultation was paid, and I think they examined my eyes the most thoroughly. They said buried suture probably wouldn’t work. When I asked about partial incision, they said it might be possible, but they spoke as if they weren’t confident.
5. Double eyelid surgery (double buried suture), epicanthoplasty / upper epicanthoplasty - ㅅㅇㄱㄹ
: I went because my friend had it done here.
Maybe because I brought up buried suture first, they talked about doing it with buried suture.
When talking about after-service, they said that if it comes undone within 2 years, they would do incisional double eyelid surgery with ptosis correction for only the additional cost.
@I definitely felt Daejeon is cheaper than Seoul. I went to 2 places in Gangnam, Seoul, and it seems like they’re about 160% of Daejeon prices?
