I had surgery on Friday morning.. Maybe I’m just really insensitive, but it didn’t hurt at all.. Other people say it hurts when they administer the anesthesia.. For me it was just a slight sting. They also removed a mole next to my nose as a service, and that actually hurt more.. haha First I had a consultation with the doctor about the eye design.. While I opened and closed my eyes, they designed my eyes.. (The doctor said the design is the most important thing for double eyelids..^^) And even after I lay down on the bed, they kept revising the design, applied anesthetic cream, and anyway, it seemed like that was what they were doing.. Then they covered my face, leaving only my eyes and nose exposed.. The moment the anesthetic went into my arm, I didn’t even know whether it hurt.. My mind got hazy, and while I was half-asleep.. I could hear the radio, hear the doctor and nurses talking, and then there was just a brief sting and no feeling at all, only sounds, like cutting with scissors, and a slightly burning smell came with a sizzling sound. When I asked later, they said it was because they were stopping the bleeding.. (I told them it smelled like burning meat.. haha) Then as the anesthesia gradually wore off, the doctor kept repeating, “Open your eyes, close your eyes,” and stitched my eyes (haha), and it seemed like they were doing it very carefully.. I thought they would sew it all at once, but they kept sewing while I opened and closed my eyes.. I only felt the thread being pulled, and it didn’t hurt at all.. During the epicanthoplasty too, it just felt like something smoothly passed by, and I didn’t feel any pain at all. Later, when they stitched the epicanthoplasty area, it didn’t hurt at all either.... Then later I went to the recovery room, they placed gauze over my eyes and put on an ice pack. People say it hurts when the anesthesia wears off, but for me it was just a foreign-body sensation, or like I couldn’t open my eyes well and my eyes felt tight. They felt stiff, but I couldn’t really tell if it hurt.. And when I left, they gave me gauze, an ice pack, and ophthalmic ointment, so I took those home and diligently used the ice pack.. Rather than right after surgery, the next day was more swollen and looked awful (well.. it still looks awful now too), and today is day 4, and I went to work with my stitches still in.. haha Still, the swelling seems to have gone down a lot.. I hope the swelling goes down quickly, everything settles into place, and my eyes become pretty...
