The title is exactly my situation right now. After surgery, I was thinking about removal because of columellar retraction and the ear cartilage showing through at the nasal tip. But the hospitals have different opinions, so I’m torn. A: remove only the cartilage showing through at the nasal tip, and use the removed ear cartilage to lower the columella. B: remove the ear cartilage at the nasal tip and remove even the ear cartilage strut. I have two options, and option B is cheaper. The hospital that advised against removing the strut said that because the strut material is ear cartilage, the adhesions are severe, so after removing the strut, the columella could roll inward and they can’t guarantee the shape.
