Hello I had cheek fat grafting in Busan.. and it has been about a year and a half since I had the final, third procedure. It has been a while since I had the surgery, so I hadn’t really come to this community, but I suddenly thought of it and came in, and there were people curious about cheek fat grafting... Since I’ve had fat grafting myself, I’m posting this in case my experience might help. I had fat grafting up to the third round. The fat was harvested from the back of my thigh (the area right below the buttock) and injected. The doctor said the back of the thigh has a good fat engraftment rate, so that’s where it was taken from, but I’m not sure if that’s actually true.. Usually people often use fat from the thigh or abdomen, and when fat is removed, the bruising is really severe and it hurts quite a bit. For me too, rather than the face where the fat was injected, the thigh where the fat was removed hurt, so I think I struggled for about 2 weeks. During the first round, because they inject the most fat, it hurt a bit during surgery. I had sedation anesthesia, so when the fat was removed and at the beginning of surgery I didn’t really know what was happening, but later, maybe because the anesthesia wore off a little, when fat was being injected into my cheeks, it felt a bit like my facial muscles were being torn, or something like that, a stinging pain. The second and third rounds were much less painful. After the first surgery, I came home with a very swollen face, and I still can’t forget the shock when I first looked in the mirror. To exaggerate a little, I looked like the Fan Lady. It wasn’t sagging, but seeing cheeks that looked like they would burst like a pufferfish startled me so much.. Because the fat didn’t go in evenly, some areas looked a little bumpy, and it was hard to wash my face and hard to move my mouth. Plastic surgery websites say you can return to social life after a week, but in my experience I think that would be hard. Unless only a small amount of fat is injected, the face swells a lot, so I think you have to go around looking awkward for at least more than a week. What worried me after fat grafting was that both cheeks looked uneven and that there were bumpy, clumped areas. But the clumped areas disappeared with time, and for the uneven cheeks, when I got the second procedure, I said the right side was plumper and asked them to inject a bit more on the left to balance it. Now they’re not exactly the same, but it doesn’t really show. Fat grafting is usually done up to a second or third procedure, so you have to go to the hospital a few more times. (You also have to get stitches removed and get injections.) So if you choose a hospital that is too far away, it will be inconvenient. And the thing people worry about most before fat grafting.. will the fat remain or disappear.. I also saw many posts online saying none of it remains, so I worried a lot. But I decided on surgery because my skull-like face was a complex for me. When I first had the consultation, the doctor said this. With fat grafting, some people lose it all, some people retain it, and it varies completely from person to person. Even so, I wanted to live looking human for at least a few months, so I had the surgery, and now, a year and a half later, I think it’s better than before surgery. I intentionally had it done while I was taking a short break from work, and maybe because I rested after surgery, after the swelling in my cheeks went down, I didn’t lose that much volume. Now I think my face looks just right to other people. Slightly plump.. Before surgery, my body wasn’t thin, but my face looked gaunt, so I heard a lot of comments like I looked pitiful.. or too thin, but after surgery I haven’t heard things like that. As someone said earlier, I think the fat engraftment rate also differs by constitution. I saw posts saying a lot disappears and posts saying it remains, and I’m closer to the latter. Well, maybe it will disappear after more time passes, but so far it seems fine. Just from the perspective of someone who had surgery.. I wrote this in case anyone was curious. For reference, this post is purely my personal experience, so please just take it as, ah.. there are cases like this too.. and before surgery, read lots of reviews and think carefully before deciding. Then I hope everyone becomes pretty~ ^^
