I got older and really didn’t feel confident about wearing braces for 2 years, so I had surgery all at once at a university hospital. You could say I went through, in 2 weeks, the hardship I would have gone through over 2 years. The surgery time was also longer than I expected, taking over 2 hours, and the recovery period took more than 2 weeks too. The swelling lasted about a month, and looking back, I think just wearing braces would have been better.
