Days 1 to 5 after chin and cheekbone surgery

Since my university days, I had been told, "Your face is so big!" I was someone who, shocked by that, had never once been able to live with my hair swept back. After ten years of considering my severe 45-degree cheekbones and slight square jaw, I decided to clean things up completely. Even after deciding to go through with it, my mind changed many times. Do I really have to take such a risk and do this? Can I really get through it? (After reading reviews... I was terrified more than once.. --;) Still... after 7 months, I went back to the hospital I trusted most and was rushed straight into surgery. On the first day, before surgery, I rechecked with the doctor which areas would be treated and how, got an explanation of possible aftereffects after surgery, had photos taken, and then moved to the operating room. Surgery started around 11 a.m. and I think it ended around 2 p.m. That so-called general anesthesia was really no joke. First they anesthetized me with an injection, then a sour, unpleasant smell seemed to surround me... and then I lost consciousness. When I woke from anesthesia, why I was struggling so much, I do not remember, and I had no sense of what movements I was making or what I was thinking, but even in that state, I vividly remember hearing someone say to me, "...-ssi, the surgery went well~" haha. During the one day I stayed in the hospital, I remember the nurses coming and going all night, checking my blood pressure and giving ice packs, painkillers, and antibiotics. The first time I went to the bathroom, maybe because I still had not fully come out of the general anesthesia, I was dizzy and could not even properly look at the face reflected in the mirror, but when I got up the next morning and looked, I naturally exclaimed, "Wow~" The tightly wrapped bandage line clearly showed that the cheekbones that had tormented me for decades were gone. It was truly amazing. I kept looking and looking, and it was really good. My chin was swollen and round, but the line seemed smoother. It was only the first day, but there was no swelling and no bruising, so I remember telling the manager who came to visit and the doctor, "I don't seem to be very swollen~" and being happy. That happiness was brief... as expected, from the second day to the fourth day, I swelled up badly. I had also had my cheekbones done, but the area around the cheekbones did not hurt at all, (was it because I had no sensation?..) only the area around the chin hurt, and especially the feeling that the skin was expanding and tearing? Then, with the compression tape stuck on my face as well, my face was literally burning and I was going crazy.. Sleep... of course, I did not sleep well. There was no way I could sleep properly, I kept opening and closing the refrigerator dozens of times and did ice packs all night, and since the hospital told me to gargle more than 10 times a day, I gargled while shaking my swollen face.. On the early morning of the 5th day, I removed the compression tape and looked, and apart from the swelling, I did look like a person. However, my mouth was very swollen, so speaking was difficult, and maybe because of that, the area around my chin felt numb and stinging, and I could not really describe the feeling precisely. It is still very hard and painful. I went out briefly to meet a friend, but I was completely dizzy and had no energy, so I could not stay out long. Still, I said I was eating diligently with the hope that the wounds would heal quickly and I would recover, but I lost 2.5 kg. I hope the stitches can be removed soon so I can feel a bit freer.. I met a friend today, and even though my face was still puffy and swollen, she complimented me, saying my side profile had become really pretty. I was truly happy, but because the area around my chin was so swollen, I could not smile broadly. haha Ah! And she asked if I had also done my nose. I did not have my nose done. It was just that my nose had been living buried beneath those high cheekbones.. Now at last, it is my nose's time to shine.. haha For me, this was a surgery I probably could not have gone through without prior knowledge, and I feel like I managed to get through it thanks to the knowledge I learned through this community. What I felt during this surgery was that each hospital has different surgical methods and each doctor has different abilities, but what I want to say is that I hope those who are suffering inside can receive procedures safely under experienced doctors, find confidence, and become happy. About bruising. Sometimes when I read reviews, I had seen mentions of bruising around the eyes or bloodshot eyes after cheekbone surgery, so I went prepared for that, but no, there was nothing like that. However, since this is a surgery where they open the mouth and cut inside, about three scar marks from tears remained dark around the upper and lower sides of the corners of my lips. By the 5th day, they were quite noticeable, but maybe because I exfoliated my face a bit yesterday, or maybe because today is the 7th day and time has passed, I am not sure, they have faded a lot. They have not completely disappeared yet. Time is the medicine, I suppose ^^ About swelling. On the day of surgery itself, I did not feel that I was very swollen. But from the second day to the fourth day, as I wrote above, the skin really felt as if it were swelling and tearing, and even on the 5th day it was more or less the same.. On the 6th day, there were signs of it starting to go down a little, and this morning on the 7th day, as soon as my mom opened my bedroom door in the morning, she said, "Today the swelling has gone down quite a bit~" That swelling thing... since my cheekbones were originally very prominent, I am not really sure about the cheekbone swelling. At least I can clearly tell that my face has become slimmer, and my chin is definitely round. Because I originally had severe asymmetry, in the photo the right side would probably look a bit more protruding. They said they would shave that part down more. The doctor also told me in advance that even after surgery, asymmetry might not be completely corrected. Since one side was sticking out so much to begin with.. --; Ah.. About pain. Until day 5, I was not sure about the cheekbone area, but the chin area was numb enough to be the only thing I noticed, and the inside of my mouth had a spicy, tingling feeling? I found out that the wounds inside my mouth had not yet healed, so they were stinging and numbingly painful. I even woke up while sleeping.. From day 6, if I touched the cheekbone area, there was some pain, about as much as when I touched the chin area, and as for the pain inside my mouth, maybe because the pain in my chin was starting to go away, or maybe because I had not taken painkillers, I felt it more. Until day 5, I think I took painkillers almost every 4 hours. Now that it is the 7th day, I still have pain, but it is not as severe as yesterday, and I can open my mouth wider than yesterday.. amazing, amazing.. Right now I still have swelling, but the asymmetry also looks roughly similar at a glance.. haha Maybe because of my positive mindset? Or because I really think it went well..
