6-Month Review After Double-Jaw Surgery + 3 Facial Contouring Procedures

Hello! This is my review as I’m approaching about 6 months since having double-jaw surgery + three facial contouring procedures at an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic. I’ll write about everything from what led me to decide on surgery, to the recovery process, and how satisfied I feel now. My case could not be resolved with orthodontic treatment. I had been undergoing orthodontic treatment for a long time, but I had malocclusion and a protruding lower jaw that were difficult to correct with orthodontics alone. As the orthodontic period became longer, my face shape gradually changed into a peanut-shaped face, and my jaw looking protruded from the side profile was a major complex for me. In the end, I was diagnosed as needing double-jaw surgery, so I decided to go through with it. The director of the oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic looked at my face and kindly explained the surgical direction in a way I could understand, which gave me confidence. I was especially impressed that they considered the rounded, voluminous facial image I wanted together with medical safety!!! I really liked that the oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic prioritized the patient’s own aesthetic goals. On the day of surgery, I was very nervous, but the director, consultant, and nurses stayed by my side until the end, encouraging and supporting me, so I felt much more at ease! After the surgery, what surprised me most was that I had almost no pain immediately afterward. Thanks to the hospital’s systematic care, my recovery progressed quickly! During weeks 1–2, the swelling that had made me puffed up like a pufferfish went down noticeably, and around one month later, opening my mouth became much more comfortable! By around two months, the bones had settled into place and my face looked more natural. I had no problems even after going on a trip! Now, at 6 months, my face has become balanced overall. I’ve moved away from my previous long and narrow impression, and the soft, cute look I wanted has been completed! Before, I really, really hated taking photos, but now, no matter what, I take face photos with the default camera. My natural smile comes out well, and I hear every day that I have a smiling face. Every time I look in the mirror, I think, this is really the face I wanted!
