My original vision was -5.0, -4.5, and I also had severe astigmatism, so glasses were really uncomfortable. I had surgery at 21, and now it's been about 5 years since the surgery. I didn't get LASEK or LASIK, so I don't know how severe dry eye is with those, but with lens implantation, dry eye doesn't seem severe. As someone who had lens implantation, I live fine even without artificial tears. My biological older brother who had LASIK lives with boxes of artificial tears. From the very beginning of surgery, because I had astigmatism and a lot of complex factors, they told me in advance that they couldn't fully correct the astigmatism and that even with surgery I would only get to 0.8. Still, until the 3-year mark after surgery, I lived without even touching glasses. Now, when working or reading text, I absolutely have to wear glasses. I can see without them, but it feels like my focus doesn't lock in well, so it's hard when I need to look at something with concentration. But my major is design, so on average I spend about half the day just looking at a monitor. Still, isn't that usually how modern people live? There is still a lot of talk that lens implantation is dangerous, cataracts and so on, but even before surgery they said that these days, modern people almost 100% all get cataracts or glaucoma, so by their 60s they need to replace the lens once anyway. Well, since that's the hospital's position, it's hard to trust everything.. An annoying thing about lens implantation is that once every 6 months you have to visit the hospital for a checkup, but the wait is long and there are many tests, so it's a hassle. So I didn't go for almost 2 years, and when I went, the doctor seriously gave me a huge scolding. They said I really have to periodically check things like intraocular pressure, and that if I don't check this properly and miss the timing, I could even go blind. Honestly, I did get checkups at a neighborhood clinic sometimes and they said there were no problems, so I didn't go, but, well. Anyway, the point here is that even if it's a factory-style clinic, if the patient is stepping in shit, the doctor will scold you. lol Since then, I've been trying to go at the right times.
