What I wanted = no donated costal cartilage, alar reduction, double-chin liposuction, price in the low-to-mid 5 million KRW range
To start with the result, I confirmed surgery with ㅂㅇㅂ. Originally it was going to be ㅇㄴ, ㅂㅇㅂ, and ㅇㄷ, and the older reviews for ㅇㄷ had the nose line I was pursuing, but the recent reviews were gradually moving toward a nose line I dislike, so two days? three days before the consultation, I canceled it and decided to go to only two places for consultations.
ㅇㄴ Plastic Surgery (Director ㅊㅌㅈ) - The desk staff, doctor, and consultation manager were all really kind. I went with a friend, and they were very considerate in case my friend got bored while waiting for the consultation. When you go, they take a CT scan, and the consultation waiting time takes about 10-15 minutes. I said I wanted to do it without using donated costal cartilage, and that I wanted alar reduction plus double-chin liposuction, and they said okay, let’s do that. They analyzed my face and explained that the surgery method could be done like this and that to match what I wanted. The price came out to about 5.6 million KRW after all discounts. Afterward, during the price consultation, the consultation manager had a vibe of trying to make me decide quickly, so I felt a bit pressured. I paid a 560,000 KRW deposit and later canceled.
ㅂㅇㅂ (Director ㅇㅇㅁ) - The consultation manager and doctor were really, really kind. Especially the doctor treated me incredibly warmly. Maybe because I’m 21, or maybe that’s just how they are, I don’t know, but they treated me like a baby the way my grandmother would, so it felt friendly and comfortable(?) Consultation waiting time was about 5-10 minutes. When consulting with the doctor, I said I was reluctant to use donated costal cartilage, wanted alar reduction, and wanted liposuction. They said if I really didn’t want to use donated costal cartilage, they could do it without it, but their preferred surgical approach is to build the nose firmly with good material from the beginning to reduce the chance of revision surgery as much as possible. They said my nose doesn’t seem to particularly need alar reduction, and that if I do alar reduction, the nose shape I want might actually not come out. They recommended that since alar reduction has almost no swelling and is not noticeable if you wear a mask, so you can go about daily life normally, I should do it muuuch later if I’m still not satisfied after the surgical swelling goes down. Also, they said my chin is on the narrow side, so it looks like I have a double chin, but there isn’t much fat itself, so even if I do liposuction, I won’t see as much effect as expected. They said if I still wanted liposuction and asked them to do it, they could do it and they’d make money too, but they recommend not doing it. And they recommended fat grafting to the forehead and chin, which wasn’t in my plan. They said that to operate according to the photos I want, the line that falls from the forehead to the nose is important, and no matter how pretty they make the nose, if the forehead isn’t pretty, it won’t come out like the photos I want. They said doing fat grafting to the forehead and making that line together would increase the completeness and satisfaction. The doctor also said they tend to recommend forehead fat grafting together to people who come for nose consultations.
After that, during another consultation about the price with the consultation manager, I said I was really conflicted because my original plan and the things I had discussed with the previous hospital were completely different. They smiled, gave me plenty of time to think, asked what I was worried about, and explained in detail once more why the doctor had made those suggestions regarding my concerns. They said they weren’t forcing me, so even now they could do it the way I wanted, and if I did it my way, the price would change like this. They calculated prices for several possible cases and helped me clearly organize my thoughts, so in the end I decided on ㅂㅇㅂ and decided to just trust the doctor and do everything as they suggested.
