I thought MegaDerm was used for the nasal bridge, but is it used for the nasal tip too?

I heard MegaDerm gets absorbed, and usually it’s used as an overlay in people with thin skin to prevent show-through.

[@sotte234] If there’s no other way, you have to use it, but it seems like you should ask once whether another method is possible..

Artificial dermis? It’s used a lot if the soft tissue is thin or if someone wants a slight lift.

It doesn’t seem that great. Instead of covering up what has collapsed by layering something over it, I’d go to a place that rebuilds it from the beginning like constructing a house. For dermis, overlaying it when there is show-through can make sense, but I think it’s hard for it to play enough of a role or provide enough support to replace insufficient cartilage (+ absorption issue).

[@sotte234] Analyze the wording carefully. They aren’t answering “it doesn’t get absorbed.” They bring up autologous dermis, which has a higher absorption rate, and say it’s less than that. Megaderm itself isn’t an unfamiliar material. But using it instead of cartilage means folding it in or something like that to add volume. If something that absorbs more easily than cartilage is used not just as a nasal-tip overlay (that’s for preventing show-through), but instead of cartilage, and then it gets absorbed, wouldn’t the nasal tip immediately become shorter?? That’s why I think if septal cartilage + ear cartilage can’t cover it, then within that situation you either give up on everything and do it naturally / give up on nose surgery altogether / or use donated cartilage or autologous costal cartilage.

[@sotte234] How are they solving everything with just Megaderm as a one-tool fix? It feels like they’re trying to cover a lack of skill with little tricks. Think carefully. I’ve left three comments now, but I keep saying the same thing.
