Eye Surgery Considerations@eye-think

Clinic review from this community

I was planning to have forehead reduction surgery, so I picked five hospitals and went for consultations. This hospital had no one around me who had surgery there and wasn't well known, but it was mentioned a lot in comments on a Naver cafe as being top-tier, so I put it on my list. I went there last after getting consultations at all the other hospitals, so I had many points of comparison, and this place had the unfriendliest staff, including the manager, and I felt the consultation manager also lacked professionalism. The reason is that the consultation managers were somewhat older, so I thought they would have a lot of experience, but in terms of understanding of the surgery, information, and so on, the two of them said different things, and one of them did not properly understand part of the surgical method. When I asked about the surgery, she gave vague answers; This was the first place where there was silence for more than 5 seconds during a consultation. If she didn't know, she could have just said she would check and answer me, but maybe because she was embarrassed or what, she kept dodging with unrelated answers.. I felt like she was trying to put the customer down. (For example, about the before-and-after photos on the official website, another manager said, 'They were uploaded only for people who gave patient consent and participated in an event,' but the manager who dodged the question said customers were so, so pleased and satisfied with their surgical results that the patients themselves told them to upload them, and that she herself had surgery here too, saying why would she have done it if they weren't good. They also showed me before-and-after face photos that were not on the official website, and I wondered whether those people had really given consent too.) This was also the only place that charged a consultation fee, there were no discount events, and the price was the highest, so I found many things questionable, but that one manager in particular was unusually full of certainty. Personally, my stance is not to save money when it comes to my face, and anyway the surgery isn't done by the manager, so the doctor's opinion mattered more to me. The doctor also readily agreed to do it according to the design I wanted. Other hospitals flatly said it was impossible, but this was the only place that said it was possible, so I think that was the biggest reason my mind leaned toward it. Unlike the other staff, the doctor was on the kind side and had strong pride in his own skill. So I thought that even if it was expensive, it would be better to do it here, and my mind leaned a lot toward it, thinking I should trust the doctor. At the time I had the consultation, PRP injections were not included in aftercare, and they said they would provide other aftercare as much as I wanted without limit, telling me I could come anytime whenever I wanted. Honestly, aftercare is very important, and from the beginning I never once asked for a discount, and since they said it was fixed pricing, I had no intention of trying to bargain there. So I thought I should at least receive aftercare properly, and I asked several times. I asked whether PRP injections were essential because all the other hospitals included PRP injections in aftercare, but I was told PRP and things like that were not important at all, and that the hospital's aftercare program alone was enough, so I should not worry. Then I paid the deposit. But after surgery, unlike what I had been told, I couldn't receive care each time for a different reason. On my first visit after surgery, they said there was no need yet for laser treatment or swelling care or anything like that, briefly put only a hair-loss helmet on me, and sent me home. When I visited next, they said it was too early and there was nothing they could do, and told me to get laser at the next visit. When I visited again, they said my hair was still short and that laser treatment would burn my hair, so I should receive it after growing it out. When I asked whether it would not burn if I grew my hair out, they did not answer. I kept getting refused like this, and as a result, the only care I received was one session with a helmet with a red lamp. When I looked up other reviews at the time, many people were saying the same thing, so I concluded that aftercare at this hospital should not be expected at all. So from then on, I separately went elsewhere for scar care. Every time I visited the hospital, as soon as I checked in they kept trying to take photos first, and even though it was forehead surgery, they kept telling me not to wear a mask and prevented me from wearing one, so I felt a lot of pressure about visiting the hospital itself. I wasn't participating in a review event, and the manager said they had cut out the maximum amount according to elasticity, so retouching would be difficult. Then isn't follow-up unnecessary..? Why on earth?????? When getting my prescription, I said I already had scar ointment and didn't need to buy it, so please take it out. Then they said, "You have this?" so I said, "Yes." Then they asked again, "You have this one? Is this right?" I said, "I said I have it," and even described the product color, asking if it wasn't the same one, and said I had it. Then they just went, ah.. and stopped talking. Is there some reason I shouldn't have scar ointment?? These unnecessary verbal back-and-forths with staff happened more than once or twice. I should have looked not only at Naver and Gangnam Unni but also at this community before going. I really regret going to the hospital after trusting Naver comments without checking this community.

I state that this review was written to share my experience for the public interest, in the hope that it will help others choose a hospital, and not for the purpose of slander or defamation.
