The story of how I almost lost 5 million won without even getting surgery

It's not something to brag about, but I'm posting because I hope there won't be another foolish victim like me. I'm posting about the absurd thing that happened when I went to Korea for facial contouring surgery.

Around early winter this year, I went to Korea and had a consultation at one place, and at that one place, I paid the entire surgery fee of 5 million won upfront by card. The exchange rate had risen so much at that time... And I made a reservation saying I would come back to Korea 6 months later to have the surgery. Three months after that, I just couldn't bring myself to go through with the surgery, so while I was back in Korea, I stopped by the hospital where I had made the reservation and said I wanted to cancel and asked them to return the prepaid surgery fee. They said they absolutely couldn't return it.... They said the entire 5 million won was the reservation deposit, and according to their hospital policy, deposits are nonrefundable... I argued, asking where that was written in the documents and why it couldn't be refunded when there were still 3 months before the surgery reservation... but they kept insisting it was just their hospital policy... I asked to meet the director, and they said absolutely not and wouldn't let me meet him. In the end, I brought in a reliable man, lost 500,000 won, and it took 5 hours to get the remaining 4.5 million won back. ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ I really almost lost 5 million won in such an absurd way... A place that advertises so heavily and looks so grand turned out to be a merchant-like hospital that only cares about money. I really never thought it would be like this...

Everyone... This hospital (ㄱㄹㄷ Plastic Surgery), I don't know about anything else, but before you have decided 100% to have surgery, never put down anything like a reservation deposit. You won't get it back.
