I had one severely crowded tooth in my upper jaw, and my lower jaw had severe malocclusion overall. It was noticeable enough from the outside to look distinctive, (my friends liked it and said I looked like a goblin) but my teeth were not seriously bad. But my chin protruded very slightly, like a mild underbite, and because I was obsessing over my appearance, I wanted to shave it down with facial contouring or two-jaw surgery. Just in case, I tried orthodontic treatment first, and my protruding jaw was corrected, so I’m so, so, so happy. If you have a complex about your chin/jaw, I recommend trying orthodontic treatment first. (For reference, I did not have extractions.) Oh, but you might develop social anxiety, so I recommend doing it when you can meet fewer people .. I did it when I started retaking the college entrance exam ..
