It has already been 3 months since I had double-jaw surgery, so I’m going to organize my recovery process so far and leave a review. I had orthodontic treatment twice in total, once when I was young and once as an adult, but my bite still did not align as much as I wanted, and I was always disappointed that my jaw did not look recessed enough. There was functional discomfort too, but I also felt that cosmetic improvement was needed, so I eventually decided to undergo double-jaw surgery. Since it was not simply a cosmetic procedure but major bone surgery, I chose oral and maxillofacial surgery rather than plastic surgery, and I had the surgery with Director Shin Hee-jin at Iyiu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which is also connected with dental treatment. For people who are considering it carefully like I did, I definitely want to recommend it as a trustworthy hospital for double-jaw surgery. Right after surgery, I was flustered because there was a lot of bleeding, but at dawn the director personally came to my hospital room and drained the blood, which made me feel very relieved. For a few days, the pain-control injection, urinary catheter, and compression bandage were uncomfortable, but as each one was removed, my body gradually became more comfortable, and from day 4 I was able to try soft foods like soy milk or beef bone soup. At 1 week, I started taking walks and went to cafes and movie theaters, trying little by little to return to daily life. Of course, there were some discomforts in the middle, such as blood collecting in my cheek or my ears feeling blocked, but the hospital took quick action, so I was able to recover without major problems. By the 1-month mark, I could open my mouth enough to fit about three fingers, so I could eat foods like noodles or rice relatively comfortably, and much of the swelling had gone down, to the point that I could go out without a mask. I still had some discomfort, like tooth sensitivity around the right molars and neuralgia-like pain, but I could feel it gradually improving over time, so I felt much more at ease. And now, at the 3-month mark, I have almost no discomfort in daily life. Foods that were hard to eat in the beginning can now be eaten comfortably, even chewy foods like hamburgers or wraps, and my orthodontic treatment is also continuing well, so I’m looking forward to what comes next. I’m satisfied cosmetically too. Right after surgery, I was upset because the swelling made my face feel heavy and made me look like I had a retruded chin, but now most of the swelling has gone down and my facial line has become much more natural. There is still slight swelling and mild lingering discomfort, but I’m confident it will get better with time. What I was most grateful for was that Director Shin Hee-jin explained everything thoroughly before and after surgery and personally took care of unexpected situations, so I could always feel reassured. It was a major surgery, so I had a lot of fear, but I think I was able to endure the recovery process well thanks to the professionalism and attentive care.
