<Nose with contracture><After undergoing a third surgery after two revisions>I originally had no intention of writing a review, but when I look at this community, it seems like a lot of people take rhinoplasty lightly, and there are also people here who developed contracture like me and don’t know what to do, so I’m going to write about my experience 1. First rhinoplasty (Gore-Tex + septal cartilage + ear cartilage) You might wonder why Gore-Tex, but back then it was a time when Gore-Tex was used a lot My nose had been very low, so I lived feeling satisfied that it had become a little higher, but one day the inside of my nose became red and swollen, and a strange smell started coming from it...... (The smell is hard to explain in words, but it was a really foul smell, like a mix of metallic fishy blood smell + suppuration) 2. Rhinoplasty revision (Gore-Tex removal) I went to several hospitals, but they said they couldn’t identify the cause and only prescribed antibiotics In the end, I had the Gore-Tex removed at the hospital where I had my first surgery. Why? Because I felt anxious But I didn’t know the problem would get worse. As time passed, my columella was gradually pulled upward and my nose became upturned I also felt like the inside was tightening, and the sensation became strange too, so that was a really difficult time 3. Second revision rhinoplasty (contracted nose reconstruction) Since this was my third surgery, I went to a lot of places because I wanted to go somewhere that would evaluate it more professionally Since it was contracture, I searched based on autologous costal cartilage, and I heard there was a place that could take an X-ray to check in advance whether my rib cartilage could be used, so I ended up choosing that place (when I searched, it seemed like only this place takes X-rays; I didn’t see that at other hospitals) They looked at my condition and explained things like the degree of contracture progression and the condition of the soft tissue, and they also reviewed it while creating predicted post-op photos It wasn’t a nose that could be fixed by simply raising it or lowering it; it involved bulbous nose correction, columella lowering, columella lifting, and even pinched nose correction It was complex, and the cost increased accordingly But in my condition, it was no longer a matter of judging based on cost, so I had the surgery Because my condition was serious, the consultant scheduled my surgery for the earliest date possible Now that quite a long time has passed since surgery, when I look at it from the front or side, I feel like it is settling into a round and stable shape When contracture had developed, it did feel kind of ridiculous to hope for a certain kind of nose.. Still, rather than just having an ordinary nose, since I was doing it anyway, I hoped it would settle beautifully... I feel like one big worry is off my shoulders, but it still hasn’t fully settled, and because I suffered so much because of my nose, I’m still being careful even now Sometimes I even dream that contracture comes back, but from now on, I really hope this nose stays maintained without any problems.. It’s almost the same as the predicted post-op photo, so I hope it continues like this Everyone, if you feel like something is wrong with your nose, or if you notice a strange smell coming from your nose, I hope you go line up at the hospital as soon as it opens For me too, after getting proper surgery this time, the smell coming from inside my nose disappeared completely Please don’t ever leave it untreated, and I sincerely hope you succeed at a place that professionally handles revision surgery
