It has already been 4 weeks since I had plate removal surgery at Yungwakui Jeongseok. It was a surgery I was worried about in many ways, so I wanted to write about my experience out of gratitude for the surgery being performed safely and for others who are considering it. 7 years ago, I had orthognathic surgery at another hospital, and because I would often get problems around the plates or experience severe swelling, I decided to have the plates removed. But finding a hospital was not as easy as I thought. I was even refused consultations because I had had the surgery at another hospital. I worried right up until just before surgery about what I would do if it did not succeed, but that worry felt almost pointless. The recovery process was smooth too. I was worried because I was discharged the same day, but the swelling was just about the level of my cheeks being a bit puffy? That was it. Actually, I had heard somewhere that plate removal swells as much as orthognathic surgery, so I had been very anxious. But unlike orthognathic surgery, when I swelled like crazy and even had trouble breathing, there was so little swelling that I was shocked. I did not have much swelling, and I did not have any nasal congestion at all either. My cheek protruded a little, like after getting a wisdom tooth removed, but after about a week, there was almost no difference from my original face. Now that 4 weeks have passed, I feel completely fine. When I touch my jaw, there are no plates that feel bumpy, and I feel so relieved. It was a surgery I worried about so much, but it was a choice I do not regret. The price was very reasonable, and I got a good result too, so I have been very happy lately.
