It’s been about 2n years since I could properly see my own face, so I got the surgery to finally see my face clearly. Among the clinics recommended by acquaintances, I looked at the doctors’ experience, credentials, and surgical style, had a consultation at just one place, and booked right away. I was told that both of my corneas were thick, over 600 microns, so side effects would probably be minimal, and I chose SMILE because aftercare is easy. I chose Pro because it provides guidance for the astigmatism correction axis and the procedure time is short. Once tissue is ablated, it cannot be undone, so I think you should choose the safest machine and surgeon with the best prognosis, regardless of cost. The difficult part during surgery was that you have to keep staring at one spot for the 5 seconds when the green light disappears, and that was harder than I expected??? I think I moved a bit... If you’re considering it, practice beforehand with a video for practicing looking at that green light. For about 4 hours after surgery, my eyes stung very, very slightly (almost unnoticeable, maybe 1/10? It stung two or three times), and my vision was hazy, but I had absolutely no problem going home alone by public transportation. And once some time passed, I really started seeing so well. For the first 24 hours, I pretty much just used my eye drops, took antibiotics, and intentionally slept. I originally had severe dry eye and use my eyes a lot, so I was very worried about side effects, but honestly, it just did not hurt, there were no side effects, and I am sooooo satisfied. My pupils are also on the larger side, so I was worried about glare or halos, but so far I have had none at all. During these 5 days, the aftercare I paid attention to was taking the prescribed medication properly, using the prescribed eye drops properly, and intentionally taking one extra dose of the vitamin C + hyaluronic acid + collagen I had already been taking. Part of me wonders why I only did it now, but it also feels like I waited all these long years for the introduction of Pro and to meet my surgeon... I think expensive things should be worth their price, and I’m satisfied because it was worth the money. Some people say they reach 1.5 vision after SMILE, but for now, at my 1-day follow-up, both eyes were around 1.0. I’ll write again later after the 1-month follow-up! For office workers, taking 2 days off is more than enough. Just resting well on the day of surgery and the next day should be fine.
