Hello. I’m a man in my late 20s, and after worrying about my square jaw, I had square jaw surgery at a contouring clinic, and now about 3 months have passed. Honestly, people might think that because I’m a man, I wouldn’t care much about my face shape, but ever since I was young, my jaw was angular and my face looked wide, so it stressed me out. Especially whenever I took photos or looked in the mirror, my face looked big and I didn’t like my side profile, so I always tried to cover it with my hairstyle. I would hide my face with my hair, worry a lot about angles when taking selfies, and always had to use filters. I decided to have surgery after spending years only thinking about it, then finally mustering up the courage last year and getting a consultation. During the consultation, they took a CT of my face and said my bone was quite thick and very angular. From then on, I decided not to put it off anymore and just do it. The first week after surgery was really hard. The swelling was so severe that I would get startled whenever I looked in the mirror. Also, because of the intraoral incision site, I couldn’t eat properly and got by on porridge or thin rice gruel. Swelling care was really important during the first month, so I kept getting care exactly as the clinic instructed and worked hard on massage too. After about two months, the swelling definitely went down, and now it looks really natural. As the clinic said, from the 3-month mark, people around me can barely tell. The biggest change is that my facial line is clearly different. Before, because my jaw was angular, my face looked wider even for a man, but now it definitely looks softer and slimmer. Maybe that’s why people ask me “Did you lose weight?” really often. If I don’t say I had surgery, they just think I succeeded at dieting. I’ve also heard that my impression looks a bit softer, and I don’t have to use filters when taking selfies, so I’ve gained a lot of confidence. Honestly, before surgery, I did worry a bit about a man doing something like this. I wondered if it might look awkward or obvious for no reason, but now I really think it was a good choice. Satisfaction is about 95 out of 100? It still hasn’t completely settled, and I think a little fine swelling remains. The clinic also said I need to watch it for at least 6 months for the final result. Still, I’m already very satisfied at this stage. As for daily life, since I’m at 3 months, there’s no discomfort at all. I can eat all foods well, and I’m exercising too. In the early stage after surgery, eating hard foods was a little scary, but now I can comfortably eat meat and things like that too. The clinic checked everything carefully as well, so I didn’t have any major anxiety while recovering. I’m so satisfied that I almost regret only worrying and delaying it at first. For those who are stressed because of a square jaw like I was, I recommend at least getting a consultation. It’s more natural than I expected, and people’s reactions around me have been really positive, so taking photos has become fun these days..
