Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

.

Title: I had double jaw surgery during my growth period (1 month post-op) Hello Since I was young, I had severe asymmetry, and because of that asymmetry I had malocclusion, so my jaw always hurt and I often had indigestion. Since elementary school, I had consistently wanted to have double jaw surgery. After becoming a high school student, I became more interested in my appearance and wanted to have surgery quickly. Since my growth had just ended, I decided to have surgery right away! I found out about the hospital after watching a YouTube video about double jaw surgery. Seeing the before-and-after photos and the director’s videos gave me trust, so I didn’t even think about other hospitals and immediately had a consultation and booked surgery. At the first consultation, since I was in the growth period, they took a hand X-ray to see whether there was any remaining growth potential, and they also photographed my face to make a surgical plan before the consultation. I had asymmetry and a slight underbite, so I decided to get double jaw surgery and two types of facial contouring (square jaw and chin)! I had planned to have surgery up to my cheekbones, but the director said I probably didn’t need cheekbone surgery yet, so although I hesitated a little, I listened to the director, who has a lot of experience, and did not have cheekbone surgery. Usually there are more doctors who say to do this area and that area during surgery, but the director clearly told me only the parts that were necessary, which I really liked! Before surgery, I had the required internal medicine tests and blood tests, and fasted for 12 hours the day before surgery. It was a surgery I had wanted for a long time, so I was a little nervous, but my desire to get it done quickly was stronger, so I wasn’t scared. Because it was my first surgery, I was curious how the anesthesia would feel and waited to see what it would be like. The anesthetic injection went in, and as soon as I thought, “Oh? It feels like something is shutting off?” the surgery was already over haha. When I was waking up from anesthesia, I couldn’t wake up well, like sleep paralysis, so I struggled a little.. haha After surgery, I kept taking deep breaths, and about 4-5 hours after surgery my nose started to get blocked. Even normally, my breathing tended to be shallow, so I had fear about not being able to breathe well. After surgery, my mouth was tied and my nose was blocked, so breathing was really, really hard. They had me bite on a stick so I could breathe through a very small space in my mouth, but breathing was so hard, no, I just couldn’t breathe, so I was scared I might die.. Still, since I was at the hospital haha, the nurse also put an oxygen mask on my mouth! The first night, time really does not pass.. I just kept breathing, and the moment I fell asleep I couldn’t breathe, so I stayed up all night and just kept breathing deeply. Every time I checked the time, only 20 minutes had passed, and I just kept thinking I wanted morning to come quickly. On the second day, they removed the blood drain and urinary catheter. It was my first time having a urinary catheter, and it hurt so much when they removed it.. Honestly, thinking about it now, removing the urinary catheter hurt more than not being able to breathe at that time.. Still, I was able to take short walks, so whenever I was bored, I kept walking. (Oh, and when you get admitted, make sure to bring a tablet!!) Watching the tablet, biting the stick in my mouth, and breathing, the second day also passed well. (It only passed; the second day is hard too..) Finally, the third day! I managed to endure fairly well, was discharged, and went home. Using a sauce bottle from Daiso, I drank New Care beverages and took medicine, and got through 2 weeks safely. Because my surgery was done in a method where the mouth is tied, I only drank liquids for 2 weeks. For the first week, I was in pain, exhausted, and out of it, so I didn’t even know I was hungry and had no appetite, making it easy to have only liquids. But in the second week, I felt more alive haha, so I was hungry all the time.. haha! At the first post-op visit, they disinfected the inside of my mouth, and at the second visit, they disinfected the inside of my mouth, removed the stitches, and removed the rubber bands that had tied my mouth. When the stitches were removed, it hurt so I cried, and around the time I relaxed after the stitch removal ended, they removed the rubber bands. It felt like my jaw was dislocating, so I was so startled that I cried for the second time.. ha. They also explained the wafer, and once I got used to it, it became comfortable again! Now it has been 4 weeks since surgery, and I’m practicing opening my mouth, eating soft bread soaked in milk or porridge, and living fairly like a human being haha. Even now, my jaw keeps feeling stiff, and as sensation around my jaw returns, there is tingling, but I believe it will get better someday..! Day by day the swelling is going down, and I’m really looking forward to how I will look after all the swelling is gone!
