10 years ago, I carefully compared several hospitals before deciding on a hospital for ptosis correction, and as I went around getting consultations, the prices really varied widely, and some places said I only needed an incision, while others said I needed lateral canthoplasty too. The surgical scope varied so much.
For the surgical method too, there were places that said it would be very convenient because everything would be done after I briefly slept and woke up, and there were also places that said, since my two eyes were uneven, how could they correct both sides to match while my eyes were closed, and that even if it was uncomfortable, I would have to keep closing and opening them.
After comparing about... 7-8 places, I came to these conclusions: 1) Since I only had ptosis on the right side, a place that put me fully to sleep could not help but have a lower chance of surgical success than a place where I had to close and open my eyes, even if it was uncomfortable. 2) I was highly satisfied with my eyes themselves, and since I was young, I had always been told my eyes were pretty. But if they recommended every kind of canthoplasty, including lateral and medial canthoplasty, it seemed like overtreatment.
I reached these conclusions, and I had surgery with a director who told me to close and open my eyes even if it was uncomfortable, and who said surgery was unnecessary except for eye shape correction and adding a little fat. Now, 10 years later, I am still satisfied. The fat has still taken well, and my eyes still open wide very well..!
For reference, the hospital that was going to put me completely to sleep had a shadow doctor issue break out not long after...
