First of all, I had been steadily watching videos by Director Lee Byung-jun of a well-known plastic surgery clinic on YouTube, and I felt that the materials he uses and the aesthetic sense he pursues were very close to the look I wanted haha. So I had consultations at that clinic and at two hospitals recommended by someone I know. First, I went to the hospital recommended by my acquaintance, but neither the consultant nor the director gave me consultation details that felt satisfying. Even when I showed the photos I had prepared or talked about the materials I wanted to use, they said things like, “Hmm, I think it’ll work,” or “You can use this or that, you can do an osteotomy or not…” so I didn’t feel convinced On top of that, the price was expensive, so I don’t think I really felt like going there Second, I went to the well-known plastic surgery clinic. They took a CT scan and explained things while looking at the structure inside my nose. At another hospital, they said I had a deviated septum, so it had to be corrected before doing the cosmetic surgery, and they quoted an additional fee. But Director Lee Byung-jun said that when doing rhinoplasty, correcting a deviated septum to some extent is naturally part of the process, and since mine was not from injury or deformity but the way I was born, and I had no breathing problems, making it perfectly straight could actually create unnecessary wounds. Hearing that suddenly made me trust him so much!! He also said he performs rhinoplasty on a maximum of two people per day. He said he limits it that way for surgical quality, which made me trust him even more!! During the consultation, he also asked whether I thought my original nose was high and what parts I wanted to improve, and he accurately understood my needs and explained things in exactly the direction I wanted!! For nasal bone osteotomy or alar reduction as well, he said very few people actually need those procedures, and it seemed like he tries to avoid destructive surgical steps as much as possible!! I had been thinking about nasal bone osteotomy, but since I also have a lot of facial empty space, he said that if I had nasal bone osteotomy, the empty space on my face might look even larger, so I withdrew that idea right away haha. In the end, I think it was good that I didn’t do alar reduction or nasal bone osteotomy, and I also think swelling and downtime were much shorter thanks to that!! He also said that as the nose was raised, the parts where the cheekbones naturally stood out and the mouth looked protruded would improve, and I actually felt that after rhinoplasty. To add more about the design, I said I thought it would look natural to leave the dorsal hump line visible without shaving it down, and the director also likes hump noses haha. He said it was a good condition! Also, I thought my skin was thick, but he said the front middle part of my nose had what they call a buttock-nose? shape, and if the separated cartilage shows through, the skin is not on the thick side, so it isn’t a bad condition for surgery. I think it would be good to keep that in mind too:) I asked for silicone to be inserted so it would be a masculine straight nose, but with the bridge feeling like it gradually lowers from the hump bone toward the nasal tip. My nose spreads too much sideways when I smile, so I mentioned correcting that part, and he said that if the nasal bridge and nasal tip were raised, the spread-out look would be reduced!! On the day of surgery, I visited the clinic, showed the director my photos one more time, and had time to keep explaining the design I wanted haha. You can say everything you want. I also brought photos of noses I did not want to become, and as soon as he saw them, he said, “You’re saying you don’t want it to turn out like this, right?” and understood immediately haha. As expected, so skilled lol Even when I went into the operating room and lay down, I was shaking a lot. Before anesthesia, he placed his hand on my shoulder and said that after I slept comfortably, he would make sure to do the surgery beautifully and well. Even until I closed my eyes, I trusted him. For real, the nose father himself He said the nasal bridge was made into a straight-nose shape and 4 mm silicone was inserted, and that he used ear cartilage and autologous costal cartilage!! After surgery, there wasn’t much pain. The area where the autologous costal cartilage was harvested throbbed a little, and other than the stuffy feeling from the nasal packing, I was fine. After surgery, when I went to have the nasal packing removed or the splint taken off, I also received laser treatment?? procedure?? to help reduce swelling! They did it as a service!! I never felt that postoperative care was neglected. Quite some time has passed since the surgery, and when I look at my nose shape now, first of all I think I really did well to get rhinoplasty. Besides the parts I wanted improved, the nasal tip and columella were also improved very well!! The nasal tip is just pretty lol. My columella used to look rolled inward, and he corrected that beautifully too. Even without me saying it, he took care of it well!! In terms of how it felt, the swelling seemed to be all gone after about 2-3 weeks. I was also satisfied that the downtime was short! If someone I know said they were getting rhinoplasty, I think I would recommend this place. If anyone reading this is planning rhinoplasty, I definitely recommend at least getting a consultation, and I hope you go to several consultations and make sure to do it at a place where you feel, “This is it!” with certainty!! Lastly, I’ll give you some useful rhinoplasty tips!! 1. Visit at least two hospitals and get consultations!! 2. I know there are hospitals where actual-expense insurance coverage is possible when functional nasal surgery is included!! For those who don’t have actual-expense insurance, signing up for it may help save some money!! 3. I recommend going somewhere that is not a factory-style hospital, and make sure to check what kind of management or aftercare they provide after surgery!! 4. Personally, for those who want to raise their nose to some degree, I recommend autologous costal cartilage!! It feels like my nose has become sturdy, and I’m satisfied because it feels like it won’t deform for a long time. However, there is a small scar below the chest, so for sensitive people that can’t be helped, but for me, it isn’t noticeable, so I don’t regret using autologous costal cartilage haha
