My jawline and double-chin fat made my facial balance feel off, so the jawline and neckline looked vague. I had been under stress for several years, so I ended up looking into surgery. I was slim, and only had a double-chin issue, so I got a CT and ultrasound, and because it was said that liposuction with muscle plication would be the most effective, I had double-chin liposuction with muscle plication. Recovery process. After surgery on the incised side, blood-tinged fluid came out until the next day, and it was cleaned. Not a lot came out, only little drips, so daily life was possible. They said it was a normal recovery process. There wasn’t much bruising on the surgery day, and it was worst between days 2 and 4. There was bruising on my neck, so even wearing a mask didn’t really hide it. Swelling was similar; I had more swelling when I woke up than on the day of surgery. It took about 2 weeks for the major swelling and bruising to fully disappear, and the mild swelling seems to keep going down even now. It still feels like the facial line is being refined. A pulling sensation in the double-chin area started right after surgery, and it felt tighter when coughing or yawning. This gradually improved as time passed, and once I got used to it, I just stopped thinking about it. I kept using the postoperative traction almost continuously for 3 days after surgery except when washing, and after that only for about 12 hours. The hospital taught me all the care methods, including how to wear the traction correctly and how to massage, and because I did it exactly as instructed, my recovery went well without major issues. Since I chose a hospital with a good post-op care system, I also went for scar management. They say incision scars can remain after double-chin muscle plication, but with proper management they can disappear. Mine are almost gone, and when I wear makeup I can’t see them at all. The downside of the surgery is that there are not many hospitals that do muscle plication, and because it’s a difficult surgery, the cost seems a bit high. But after this surgery, the result was so good that I think I’ll do it again if I return. It’s for cosmetic purposes, but if it’s not done just out of vanity, it feels like a surgery that most people can be satisfied with. Especially for people who are mandibularly flat, or whose double-chin is more prominent than the chin tip. Even someone like me, who is thin and only borderline double-chin, had this level of effect and facial proportions changed. Because there are differences between people, it’s best to understand this as a rough reference.
