<Before-and-after comparison>Hello, I’m leaving a review now that I’m 6 months post-op. I hope it helps! Since I was young, I had a severe complex about my appearance because of malocclusion and a protruding lower jaw. I was especially stressed about my side profile, and I realized early on that simple orthodontic treatment alone would be difficult to solve it, so I kept thinking about double-jaw surgery. I was afraid of surgery and my parents were against it too, but because it was something I desperately wanted for myself, I spent a long time researching and persuading them, and in the end, on January 31, I had double-jaw surgery and 3 types of facial contouring surgery (cheekbones, square jaw, chin) at Y Oral Surgery!! I can’t believe it’s already been 6 months since the surgery. When I wrote my 3-month review, the swelling was still going down and sensation was still recovering, but now I’m in a much more stable and comfortable state than back then. The biggest change is that almost all of the swelling has gone down. In particular, as the hollowing in my cheeks filled in naturally, my face looks much more balanced, and my cheekbone line feels neatly refined and sharper. Now there’s almost no “swollen feeling” in my face, and it really feels like my own face. The jaw area has also settled into a clean line to the point where I can clearly feel the bone rather than flesh now. My sensation has also come back a lot. Right after surgery, the sensation in my gums and around my mouth was dull, but now it has almost returned to how it was before, and there is no discomfort at all in daily life. There’s no pain either, and it’s really comfortable with no discomfort at all when eating or speaking. Overall, as my facial shape has naturally settled into place, people around me have been saying things like, “Now it totally looks like your face,” and “You’ve gotten really pretty,” so my self-esteem has improved a lot too. Most of all, feeling good when I look in the mirror seems like the most precious result among the reasons I decided to have surgery. Looking back, there was a briefly difficult period right after surgery, but now I’m satisfied with no regrets. Since I actually feel it getting better over time, I’m looking forward to what’s ahead even more. For those who, like me, have had a lot of concerns because of an appearance complex, I think it would be good to think carefully, but also seriously consider it at least once!
