First of all, I had medial epicanthoplasty restoration 1 week ago, and it was successful! From right after I had medial epicanthoplasty (2024/12/30) until the restoration (2025/8/2), I spent 7 months doing online and offline research. I went through open chats, this community, other cosmetic-surgery communities, anti-plastic-surgery communities, and so many cafes to get restoration information. I intentionally didn’t look at some apps because brokers were everywhere there, and honestly I thought there were basically no genuine reviews. First, you can understand restoration methods as broadly falling into two types: 1. V-Y (external restoration with a V-shaped incision and Y-shaped closure, like closing a zipper) 2. Reverse skin rearrangement (also restores the inner part; literally a method of rearranging the skin to close it) There are also methods like U-Y, but you can basically think of it as these two major types. The V-Y method has a smaller incision range, so scarring tends to be less and recovery is faster. But since it doesn’t restore the inner part, the chance of it opening up again later is higher. Reverse skin rearrangement has a larger incision range, so there is more scarring, but the risk of reopening is lower.
Next is the difference between micro-restoration and regular restoration. When I asked at clinics, they said micro-restoration means “closing within 2-3 mm total.” I heard that if it goes over 2 mm per side, they consider it regular restoration from that point!
First, it’s important for everyone to understand which case applies to them.
1. My eyes have no scars now, and I only want to close the front very slightly. 2. My eyes have severe scars now, and I think I need a large amount of restoration. 3. My eyes have severe scars now, but I think the amount of restoration is small / I only want to remove the scars. 4. My eyes have no scars now, but I need to close a lot.
The recommended surgical method differs depending on this.
For case 1, the V-Y method might be safer! But I really hated the idea of it opening up again, and even if scars formed again or it became overcorrected, I just wanted it closed, so even for case 1, I chose reverse skin rearrangement. If you’re case 1, you should weigh the pros and cons carefully before choosing.
For case 2, I definitely recommend reverse skin rearrangement. Since reverse skin rearrangement can bring in a large amount of skin (of course, you need to know whether you have enough extra skin), it has the advantage of restoring while removing the existing scars too. If this is your case, you don’t need to agonize too much over the method; you can choose among clinics that do reverse skin rearrangement.
For cases 3/4, I also recommend reverse skin rearrangement (because of scars / because of the amount of restoration), but I think you should consult a lot with doctors, do plenty of online/offline research, and decide.
Next is the important part: clinics. The very first list I narrowed down was: Mate, Siseon, Mighty, Siwon, La Foret, Secret, Batang, IQ, Ieul, Gio, Ilmiri, Miho, Eve, Afternoon.
But I found out there were some blacklisted ones among them too, did a lot of online research, went to consultations at 5 clinics, then narrowed it down to 3 total and chose one of them for restoration. First, I’ll tell you the features I felt for each clinic.
I’ll only introduce what I consider the top 3 for medial epicanthoplasty restoration.
Clinic 1 -They used to use the V-Y method, but recently use a new method called U-Y. -The doctor said things that don’t need to be done don’t have to be done. It didn’t really feel like they were pushing surgery. -There are reviews saying it opened up after surgery. I actually saw it on someone next to me too. -When I looked at premium reputation reviews, most were good, but there was a negative review with dozens of likes. -Still, when researching medial epicanthoplasty restoration, it is considered one of the top 3 and the reviews are pretty good. The downside is that there are relatively few long-term reviews of 2 years or more.
Clinic 2 -The doctor has 17 years of experience, the longest. -A celebrity famous for medial epicanthoplasty restoration... I assume that person had it done here. -If you say what you want, during the consultation they tend to say a lot of it is possible / other reviews said the same. -They do taping during the consultation, and from the reviews they showed me, the result looked similar to the taping. -The period of looking like a blunt, closed-off inner corner seems relatively long / they do aftercare by applying Steri-Strips, so aftercare is difficult, but reopening is the least common. -Optimal for extreme eyes. -They kindly answer everything you’re curious about, but they are a bit passive, so I recommend preparing thoroughly what you want to ask. -Consultation fee: 10,000 won
Clinic 3 (I did it here) -The doctor is really honest and direct. They firmly say no to things that can’t be done. So the consultation reviews were a bit bad. -They do aftercare really well. Even in premium reviews, the surgical reviews were good, but consultation reviews lowered the score. -I also felt hit hard by reality after the consultation and had a hard time, but they only told me facts and didn’t say it in an offensive way, so I accepted it. -They are kind after surgery. There was a review saying it’s one of the few clinics that is kinder after surgery than before, and I really agreed. -During the consultation, the doctor said they hate nothing more than someone who only talks well but can’t do the surgery properly. -For review conditions at other clinics (including not just restoration-specialized clinics but general clinics too), they took the photos themselves and wrote the reviews themselves, but here I wrote the review myself with the photos I wanted, and they didn’t even check whether I wrote it. Also, “reviews” should include negative reviews too, but the reviews were good, and the fact that they don’t write them themselves made me think they were confident, so I did it here. -The incision line is lower than Clinic 2, so the chance of scarring is higher. -They don’t apply Steri-Strips, so care is easier, but that also means it could open up if I don’t stay alert and manage it well. -It seems like they are better at micro-restoration with reverse skin rearrangement than at extreme eyes. -When restoring, they tend to restore while creating a Mongolian fold. -Right after surgery, the Mongolian fold looks indented, but it gradually disappears. After about 1-2 weeks, it’s gone.
That’s how I’d summarize the features!! These 3 are clinics I chose after really digging for about 7 months with online research on medial epicanthoplasty restoration, so in terms of skill, I think they are the best.

And if I may speak honestly about medial epicanthoplasty restoration... people tend to view medial epicanthoplasty restoration very negatively. I think it’s because the risks, like looking too closed-off or scarring, are so big ㅜㅜ But I did it despite those risks because I hated my impression so much, and fortunately I didn’t end up looking too closed-off and I didn’t get much scarring! I’ll probably struggle for about 6 months, but... I’m very, very satisfied. Everyone, other people may talk about side effects of medial epicanthoplasty restoration and scars, so you may hesitate, but if you research hard and manage it well, I think the best possible result can come out... Of course, if you absolutely can’t stand getting scars, or you think your current impression is better, then don’t do it..
