I’m the person who left the ENT surgery review a little further down. For 9 days after surgery, I went for outpatient treatment every single day without missing a day (except weekends), then I rested yesterday and they told me to come in today, so I went. Well, the hospital is just across the street from my house, so going out every day wasn’t a problem. It seemed like everyone else had their splints removed early, so I went thinking maybe they would remove mine today, but they didn’t. So while they were doing the dressing, I asked all the things I had been curious about but hadn’t been able to ask. First, I asked because it seemed like I was wearing the splint longer than other places, and they said to come back on Friday, check the progress, and even if they remove it then, I should wear the splint while sleeping until next week. Since I had a crooked nose, I had osteotomy, and they put septal cartilage? nasal cartilage? anyway, bone taken from my own nose into the glabella and nasal tip. They said that for 4 weeks after nose surgery, the bones heal and harden. After that period, there is nothing more the director can do, and continuing to go to the hospital is meaningless. So they said wearing the supporting splint and continuing to shape it is part of the process to let it harden without becoming uneven, spreading out, or becoming crooked. (They said even after osteotomy, if you don’t shape it, it spreads out. I did nose massage 6 times a day for 20 minutes each for 3 days.) And the question I’ve seen countless times in this community!! A lot of people say that if the nasal tip is done with septal cartilage, you can’t make a piggy nose, and I’ve also seen many people worried because their nose is thick. Since I kept seeing those posts after surgery, I had been living as if I’d just given up, but without thinking much, I just tossed out the question, “Doctor, is this the final thickness of my nose? I can’t make a piggy nose anymore, right?” Like that. Then the doctor smiled and explained that swelling in the nose takes a long time to wait out. That period could be 3 months or it could be 6 months. My nasal tip isn’t extremely thick right now, but it has become a bit plumper than before surgery. He said if I just wait a few more months, it will become slimmer, and the side line will also become more natural and pretty. Then suddenly he grabbed his own nose with his hand, rotated it left and right, up and down, and said, “You’ll be able to do all of this too.” lol Then he said, “The nasal tip is hard right now, isn’t it? Some people soften up in a month or two, and for others it can take longer, but if you wait patiently, the nose shape will become natural and the tip will soften, so you’ll be able to return to normal daily life. Don’t worry. Just be careful during the bone-healing period, and as long as you avoid accidents, there won’t be a problem. Around next week, let’s take photos and compare them with before. I’ll explain in detail then.” ㅠUㅠ I hadn’t even been paying attention to the fact that my nasal tip was hard (I’m originally the insensitive type ㅡㅡ;) but I felt completely relieved. Since I had seen a lot of stories about revision surgery in this community, I had been thinking I hoped it would be finished in one go. Of course I’ll only know after time passes, but somehow I even feel convinced that it turned out well. While going in for treatment, I got nutrition injections and antibiotic injections every day, received prescriptions and dressings, and didn’t pay even a penny in hospital fees (does everyone usually not pay? ㅡㅡ). I felt so bad, like I was freeloading, that I even brought Dunkin’ Donuts in the middle of it. Now the doctor says I only need to come to the hospital about three more times. The nurses are so kind too, and I don’t know what I should bring them this time lol One tip for people who wear glasses!! My eyesight is also really terrible. My job keeps me stuck in front of a computer, so I used to wear glasses when working and contact lenses when just going out. After surgery, I’ve been using one-day Acuvue, but even that strains my eyes. Holding my glasses with my hand reached its limit, so I thought of something. It looks ridiculously funny. But for the sake of my eyes, what does appearance matter? You know flesh-colored adhesive bandages. Cut one to the length from the glabella to the forehead, wrap it once around the middle of the glasses, and stick it to your forehead. To prevent it from falling off because of adhesion issues, stick another strip horizontally over the bandage on your forehead, and the glasses won’t touch your nose. Even if it looks funny, give in for the sake of your eyes lol * Honestly, even I think my post is long lol
