First, I previously had incisional double eyelid surgery + ptosis correction + epicanthoplasty at a large hospital in a metropolitan city. Since I wasn’t sure that doing it again would guarantee a good result, I kept putting it off, but this time I made up my mind and went around Seoul for consultations! So I skipped large hospitals and only went to one-doctor clinics or medium-to-large clinics. I’m still thinking of visiting about 3 to 4 more places, and I’d really welcome any information sharing about the clinics I’ve been to.
ㅇㅇㅇ(1) - ㅂㅂㅈ The interior was clean and compact, and the director was calm and kind. A staff member took photos of me, and I consulted with the director while looking at them. Both excision and the two-line lowering method were possible, but they recommended excision. They showed me many different surgical cases related to two-line lowering scars, and they seemed more confident with excision. They said the line could be lowered by about half from its current height, but exactly how much it can be lowered can only be known after opening it up in the operating room, so if I want a completely inline crease, I would need the two-line lowering method. This was my first clinic, but the clinics afterward recommended the two-line lowering method, so I got confused.
ㅌㅂ-ㄱㄷㅎ It’s not a clinic famous for revision eye surgery, but I went because someone I know had revision surgery there and was satisfied. The director seemed busy. Still, they quickly explained my eyes well. My line and height are both asymmetric, and as soon as they looked, they pointed that out right away. They said I don’t have enough excess skin, so they recommended the two-line lowering method. But they also said that even with the two-line lowering method, my eyes cannot be lowered much. And they showed me well what kind of scars are left with the two-line lowering method. While consulting here, I feel like I became clear about what I would have to give up and what I wanted to gain from revision surgery if I chose the two-line lowering method. I asked them to show photos of cases similar to mine, and although there weren’t any with thick skin types, it was good because I could see in detail how scars actually remain after surgery and how the line remains after the two-line lowering method.
ㅇㅎㅅ-ㅈㅎㅊ The clinic I was most satisfied with in terms of consultation. First, they said I’m definitely the type who needs the two-line lowering method, and they explained every single part that bothered me about my eyes (sausage-like eyelids, deep fixation, uneven eyes). They said that in my case, the height is the biggest problem. Considering it’s a clinic with a consultation fee, the fee was on the cheaper side, but the consultation was high quality. Of course, doctors recommend the surgical method they’re confident in and say it will go well, so I do take some of that with a grain of salt, but they took eye photos, drew everything out one by one, and explained how they would perform the surgery, so that was good. Everything was good, but aside from what’s on the app, there weren’t many real review photos, so that was disappointing.
ㄱㄴㅅㅇ- ㅊㄷㅇ The whole building is this clinic, so it was clean, bright inside, and the staff were kind. They held the line to show me directly what it would look like if they made an inline or in-out line, and I liked the line. They said I do have some excess skin, but whether excision is possible for my eyes can only be known for sure after opening them up, so they recommended the two-line lowering method to be safe. (But this seems to be a common opinion even just from watching other clinics’ YouTube videos. In the end, you can only know how much the first surgery damaged the tissue after opening it up...) And they said I don’t need ptosis correction. I have severe depressed scarring, so they said they can’t guarantee the scar outcome, but I felt more trust because I think an answer like this is more genuine than saying they can 100% do everything. They showed me many surgery reviews, and aside from the aesthetic aspect, there were many people whose really severe sausage-like eyelids were actually lowered, so many had good functional results. They took photos of my eyes with an iPad and explained things, and I could definitely feel their confidence because they do a lot of revision surgeries and also do many academic conferences and presentations.
I went to a few other places too, but I just excluded them because I didn’t like the consultation content or the clinic.
