<Before revision rhinoplasty, upturned nose + pinched nose><After revision rhinoplasty, overall improved well and naturally>To be honest, my first surgery wasn’t for cosmetic purposes; I was getting functional nose surgery, and while I was at it, I had silicone inserted and alar reduction done too, you know? Maybe because it wasn’t for cosmetic purposes, my nasal function got better, but over time it gradually became an upturned nose like contracture, and the nasal tip just became pointed like a beak. I’m seriously not exaggerating, it felt like it had been pinched with a clothespin. I knew absolutely nothing about this field, so I met an acquaintance who knows a lot about plastic surgery, got a recommendation, and finished my nose... I had it done at the place that creates a predicted post-op appearance. The director asked what kind of nose I wanted, and honestly, because the nose from my first surgery had such a strong pinched look, I asked, “Isn’t it impossible to improve this naturally?” Then they showed me before-and-after photos of people who had surgery and said noses exactly like mine all turned out well, and that they could do it. I hadn’t expected anything, so I was surprised.. They also showed me a really realistic predicted post-op appearance. (Don’t think of those app filters or anything like that.) The materials were silicone, donated costal cartilage, and ear cartilage... At first they suggested using autologous costal cartilage, but I’m a scaredy-cat, so we used 2 pieces of donated costal cartilage. I know autologous costal cartilage is good, but the idea of putting something that was under my chest onto my nose was just too scary. Still, I was glad there was another surgical plan.. After the revision, I got through the dreaded cotton packing + splint period.. As I was passing the 2-week mark and the swelling started going down, the nasal tip direction looked natural, and from the front, my nostrils really don’t show much at all...!!!! It’s seriously so amazing that I can see the predicted post-op appearance I had received in advance; Of course, it still feels awkward when my philtrum pulls and I sniff through my nose. But I’m the only one who knows that.. so whatever.. From the outside, it looks way better than before, so I like it
