I originally have thin inner double eyelids (externally, monolids), and I got annoyed because double eyelids kept appearing and disappearing on both eyes + my eyes looked stuffy in every photo => decided on double-eyelid surgery My ideal look is extremely natural... I’m okay even if it ends up as inner double eyelids (most women’s double-eyelid after photos were less my taste than men’s after photos with very, very thin lines) I’m timid by nature, and if I were to have surgery at that clinic, I’d be the one paying millions of won, so I didn’t want an unpleasant experience. I visited 4 places with many reviews saying the consultations were kind + places that pursue a natural look 1. Incheon ㅌㅇㅇ Director ㅇㅌㅇ (single-doctor clinic) Consultation fee 10,000 won (but it didn’t feel like a waste) The director was really passionate... My left eye has weaker opening strength + double-eyelid surgery alone would make me look sleepy So I would need incisional double-eyelid surgery + incisional ptosis correction And considering the balance, my distance between the brows/inner eyes is a bit wide + after double-eyelid surgery my eyes would look vertically larger, so he recommended epicanthoplasty But when I said it was my first surgery and I wanted to take a conservative approach, he naturally respected that epicanthoplasty was my own choice But he seemed quite firm about incisional double-eyelid surgery + ptosis correction My feelings: I despaired, thinking, so my eyes need not only incisional double-eyelid surgery but even incisional ptosis correction, sob sob I said I’d heard ptosis correction can be incisional or non-incisional, and he said non-incisional ptosis correction would also loosen on me (Director: But if I told you to get a facelift, you wouldn’t do it, right? Me: Yes...........) Because ptosis correction was the one thing I really didn’t want to do... (countless rumors of side effects + I absolutely hate a wide-eyed/intense impression + functionally, I don’t think I have ptosis..) And when I said I like a thin line because inner double eyelids are fine with me too, he said of course it’s possible, but I might feel disappointed over time + considering makeup (he said, “You’ll want to draw eyeliner too, right~?”), he recommends a line that shows to some extent for women He said pursuing individuality is good too, but if you do what is generally considered pretty, you won’t regret it later Actually, when he held the line as inner double eyelids and I said, “Oh~ I like this~?” he went hmm.. then held it a bit higher too and said, “Pretty ^0^,” looking very satisfied... I think he definitely likes pretty eyes where the textbook line is clearly visible (I felt this when looking at the before-and-after photos on the website too, and this confirmed it) Conclusion: incisional double-eyelid surgery + incisional ptosis correction + (epicanthoplasty optional) From here on, Sinsa (none had consultation fees) 2. ㅈㅇㅌ ㅇㅎㅎ Waited 30 minutes. There were more people than I expected, and the director seemed to come in after finishing surgery As the reviews said, she was kind, and I liked that she spoke honestly The director herself was a monolid beauty, so that stuck in my memory She said if I do buried-suture, it seems likely to loosen within a year, but if I’m going in lightly just to see, “So this is what it feels like to have double eyelids~,” buried-suture is worth trying But I asked, since the distance between my eyes and eyebrows is on the narrow side, wouldn’t incisional surgery make my impression stronger? She said because incisional surgery has strong fixation, I’d have to accept a stronger impression + slight scarring This gave me a bit of a reality check Given my eye conditions (not little eyelid fat + thicker skin), buried-suture is easy to loosen and I need incisional, but my taste is naturalness.. I absolutely hate a strong impression.. Because of this dilemma, I thought, “Should I just not get double-eyelid surgery?” Because it felt like rather than improving my current sleepy-looking, stuffy eye shape and impression, it would just change into a strong impression... But at clinic 1, they recommended ptosis correction almost as essential and also recommended epicanthoplasty, while Director ㅇㅎㅎ talked about buried-suture/incisional Do I need ptosis correction? -> You do it if you personally want your eyes to get really~ big~ Do I need epicanthoplasty? -> Do it if the distance between your inner eyes bothers you~ That’s what she said. Whether to do buried-suture or incisional.. whether to do epicanthoplasty.. whether to do ptosis correction.. she handed all the choices over to me... So it seemed good, but?.. I also feel like it might have been a bit more helpful if she had given a recommendation As the reviews say, she really seems conservative After the consultation with the director, I asked the consultant about the epicanthoplasty cost, and the consultant looked slightly surprised, saying she hadn’t heard anything about epicanthoplasty from the director Conclusion: if I want to just sample having double-eyelid eyes, buried-suture, or if I hate loosening, incisional (+ ptosis correction and epicanthoplasty if I want) After these two clinics, with completely opposite diagnoses (definitely incisional double-eyelid surgery + ptosis correction and recommending epicanthoplasty vs buried-suture is possible + ptosis correction and epicanthoplasty are my choice), I visited ㅇㅍ in even more confusion... 3. ㅇㅍ ㄴㅇㅈ There wasn’t much waiting. Maybe because it was morning... This was the only place that took photos of my face The director recommended non-incisional ptosis correction + fat removal + upper (front?) canthoplasty When I said, “Everyone says buried-suture will loosen,” he said non-incisional also seems okay, and incisional doesn’t necessarily mean it absolutely won’t loosen I asked because I’m also scared of side effects related to Muller’s muscle with non-incisional ptosis correction, and he did tell me not to be too scared (of course, from the position of a plastic surgeon, it wouldn’t be easy to say, “There are side effects!!!!!”...) He talked about the ratio of my eyes and nose and said the distance between my inner eyes is a bit wide, so he recommended upper epicanthoplasty He said double-eyelid surgery alone would be enough to make me pretty~ 80 points? But from a plastic surgeon’s point of view, the remaining 20 points feel lacking, so that’s why he recommends it He said if I personally feel resistance toward upper epicanthoplasty, then of course it’s right not to do it What stayed in my memory was that he smiled with crescent-moon eyes and told me to go home carefully... Conclusion: non-incisional ptosis correction + fat removal + (upper epicanthoplasty recommended) After hearing from the consultants and directors at all the clinics I’d already visited that my distance between the inner eyes is on the wide side, I realized for the first time that my intercanthal distance is on the wide side... 4. ㅈㅇㅈㅇ ㄱㅂㅇ The consultation with the consultant here was the longest. She asked me about all sorts of things. But it wasn’t burdensome, and she was kind Maybe because of that, when the director looked at the chart, he seemed to understand my needs really quickly The first line he held for me was the one I liked most out of all the lines so far (he said it was 5 mm...) About my incisional vs buried-suture confusion... he said my eyes are exactly in the middle between the two There are people who can only do incisional, but I’m not one of them.. But my eyelid skin is also thick... He said saying buried-suture loosens 100% seems exaggerated, and it should maintain to some extent + since it’s my first surgery, starting with buried-suture seems more stable However, just like the diagnosis at clinic 1, he mentioned that my left eye’s opening strength is a bit weak When I asked about epicanthoplasty too, he recommended it, saying my intercanthal distance is on the wide side I asked, since my inner-eye distance is wide, even if I do epicanthoplasty, it won’t become sharp-looking, right? He said yes But he told me that because the incision line passes there, a scar will remain, though it should fade after about 6 months Conclusion: natural adhesion + ptosis correction on the left eye + (epicanthoplasty recommended) The conclusions were “incisional + incisional ptosis correction,” “buried-suture possible + incisional recommended + ptosis correction optional,” “non-incisional ptosis correction,” so the possibilities gradually opened up, and in common, they recommended epicanthoplasty because my intercanthal distance is on the wide side... I felt that shopping around for consultations really is the answer... Maybe I was lucky, but all the directors and consultants were really kind. There were moments when I felt the back-and-forth didn’t work smoothly, though...
