I had my first cheekbone surgery in 2011. After the surgery, I went abroad right away, so I couldn’t properly follow up on my postoperative progress... So I lived for over 10 years forgetting that I had cheekbone surgery, and I got married and had a child. After giving birth, in 2022, I heard a sound from my cheekbone and felt like it was moving. So I went to the hospital where I had the surgery and checked a CT scan, and found out that I had cheekbone nonunion. The doctor also said it was the first time he had seen a case like mine where nonunion had been left untreated for such a long time... I was so shocked, but looking back now, when I first had the surgery, I had just graduated from high school, and I don’t think I was very careful after the surgery. Less than a month after surgery, I drank alcohol, started eating hard and tough foods one week after surgery, and since my mouth opened well, I think I just opened it wide and did things like that. Even then, for 2-3 months after surgery, there was a clicking sound from my cheekbone, but when I looked up other reviews, there were cases like that and everyone said it was fine, so I just felt reassured too. Looking back now, I think that was because of the cheekbone nonunion. Anyway, after discovering the cheekbone nonunion, it was hard to have revision surgery right away because of childbirth, so I ended up having it in June 2025. Now I’m being extremely careful until the bone completely unites. Since mine is a revision surgery case, they say I need to be careful for at least 1 year...; Anyway, the reason I’m writing this review is that, of course, there probably aren’t many people in a situation similar to mine, but I still wanted to let you know that you really have to be careful after facial contouring surgery. Please be very careful until the cut bone fully heals together... Avoid hard/tough foods as much as possible Don’t overdo exercise/working out too much Make sure to check whether you grind your teeth at night, and if you do grind your teeth, please tell your doctor in advance before surgery. Since receiving the revision surgery, so far I haven’t had any sound from my cheekbone or any feeling that it is moving. I plan to keep being careful for the next year and also check CT progress from time to time.
