I chose the hospital because they planned the surgery in the most detailed way and said there were several plans and that there wouldn’t be any problems. While having my first nose surgery, the nasal valve area collapsed, so my left nostril became blocked, and they pointed this out from the beginning too.
Until the day of surgery, they had mentioned about two plans, and although I only wanted complete removal, I asked them to do reconstruction after harvesting additional tissue if the condition was really very bad (if it collapsed). (I only knew that I had ear cartilage in the nasal tip + silicone.)
At other famous removal hospitals, I had CT, ultrasound, and various tests, but they only said roughly that the silicone had gone in incorrectly and I just needed to have it removed. This was the only place that said it seemed like I had septal extension, and when they opened it up, I really did have septal extension... So I heard that they changed the plan (to the plan I had consented to before surgery), urgently received consent again from my guardian, and proceeded with the surgery.
Since it was a complicated surgery, the surgery time was longer, but because the doctor had a lot of experience, fortunately it seems to have ended safely and well. After the swelling went down, it looks similar to my old nose, and I’m very satisfied. These days I’m thinking that my original nose was much better than my surgically altered noseㅠ Before surgery, I had nosebleeds from my left nostril 2 to 3 times a week, but after surgery, I haven’t had a nosebleed yet. My nose is also unblocked, so breathing has become comfortable.
First of all, I’m very satisfied with the functional aspect, and I also like the shape. The strange foreign-body sensation is gone too, so I’m very happy.
Even if you get diagnoses from several hospitals, it seems you can’t know for certain until they open it during surgery, so I think it’s best to choose a doctor you can trust.
I’m very sensitive about pain, so when I worried about it, the doctor told me not to worry because it wouldn’t hurt, and I was surprised because there really was no pain.
Also, I didn’t feel that the doctor, consultant, or nurses were unkind; rather, I felt that they took good care of me. Even after surgery, when I had questions, they arranged consultations with the director too, and I simply feel grateful that they performed the surgery well and took good care of meㅠ
