Before entering high school, I thought I would become prettier if I had double eyelid surgery, so I went with my mother, who knew absolutely nothing about plastic surgery, to nearby clinics in our area (outside Seoul) and visited 3 places for consultations. After avoiding clinic 1 because they were rude, and avoiding clinic 2 because they insisted on a low crease line, I had no choice but to book the remaining clinic 3. (I only consulted with the consultant manager.) After that, on the day of my double eyelid surgery, I went with my older brother. The director looked at my face and immediately marked lines in quick strokes. On my right eye, without discussing it with me. I was startled and told him what I wanted. Then he drew again on my left eye. “After that, he operated as is, without matching the lines.” Of course, the biggest fault is mine for trusting the doctor exactly as he was. But the fact that no one noticed throughout the entire surgery was really... With local anesthesia, at the end, when they told me to open my eyes, I did, and... there was silence. (I had no idea at all.) I came home, was shocked, and called the clinic. The only answer I got was: “It’s because of swelling.” I kept crying. My family knew it was botched too, but they comforted me and told me not to cry. The reason I wrote this post is that for 8 years, I blamed myself, struggled, and avoided looking at my eyes. But for those of you who are planning full-incision surgery and reading this, these are eyes you will have for life, so please have your surgery done carefully and thoroughly. I envy you.
