The director doesn’t exactly have a super gentle, warm vibe. How should I put it, they looked extremely tired and worn out..? And they do speak very directly. So I think there are some opinions saying they are unfriendly, but I didn’t feel they were unfriendly; instead, I liked that they spoke clearly.
It was my first surgery, only on the nasal tip, but the cost was over 1 million won more expensive than the other hospitals I had visited for consultations, so I agonized until the very end. I decided to do it at Mint for the following three reasons.
1. Pursuit of safety - As the director is known for prioritizing safety, when I went, they also spoke conservatively. They clearly explained the limits too. - And they told me my nose is one that should not undergo osteotomy. I hadn’t heard that at other hospitals, but it made me trust them and actually felt professional.
2. The director’s aesthetic matches mine well - I really hate pointy noses and dislike flashy looks. They also don’t suit my face. - To be hooonest... there are reviews saying it’s too natural, and when I actually looked at the before-and-after photos on the hospital website, there were indeed some photos that looked veeeery natural even to me. But since the director clearly tells you the surgical limits, I thought this could be predicted to some extent beforehand, and if you explain your needs accurately during consultation, they seem to adjust within a safe range. - Anyway, I really, really hate anything that looks obvious, and when I saw the reviews and after photos, I generally liked the shapes.
3. It felt conscientious - The AS period is longer than at other hospitals, there are reviews saying the director actually becomes kinder from the operating room than during the consultation, reliable follow-up care, honesty in saying no to what cannot be done, and lastly, absolutely no review-discount events. For the reasons above, I felt much more that they were conscientious compared with other hospitals. Especially looking at some reviews, there were quite a few where they willingly responded to AS requests. The director seemed responsible, so I felt I could trust them and leave it to them.
Hmm, if I write only this much, I might look like a broker, so I’ll also write the downsides. 1. The director looks very tired - This part made me subtly worried. I wondered, would they also perform my surgery while looking that tired..? That thought came to mind. And because they looked tired, I felt cautious about asking too many detailed questions. Of course, when I actually asked, they answered well, but anyway, it wasn’t comfortable.
2. They don’t ask first during consultation - Rather than focusing on the nose shape I want, they focus exactly on how and to what extent the shortcomings can be improved. I also didn’t assert what I wanted first, but for people who have a very clear desired shape, this part might not be a good fit. I also saved celebrity photos and thought hard about what kind of shape would be good, but there wasn’t really a chance to talk about it during consultation. They lifted my nose with a cotton swab and roughly showed that it would feel like this, but seeing only that didn’t give me a clear sense... - However! I think this part may be because there is time to check during surgery. Standards like flashy, high, rounded, etc. differ from person to person, so I thought seeing it directly is more accurate than explaining it in words. During surgery, there is time to check the nose shape and ask things like whether you want it higher, whether you like a more rounded feel, how the angle is, how the nasal tip shape is, and so on, so maybe they ask less during consultation because of this. - If you know clearly what you want, I think it would be good to say first, even if the director doesn’t ask, “I like this!” “I dislike this!”
3. Estimate It’s too expensive... I used only septal cartilage, did only the nasal tip, and it was my first surgery, but it was in the high 4 million won range... I think the cost is the biggest drawback.
4. Non-sedated They do local anesthesia on the nose while you’re under sedation for about 10 minutes, and the surgery itself is done while you’re awake. This process isn’t painful, but it isn’t pleasant either. It’s actually closer to unpleasant. Honestly, I was really scared before the surgery Fortunately, unlike my worries, it didn’t hurt, so it was more bearable than I expected. But this also seems like an advantage.. There’s no worry about proxy surgery, and anesthesia isn’t good for the body...
When I checked the shape during surgery, I liked it more than I expected. I was worried there might not be much difference from before, but that wasn’t the case.
The staff are also kind, the follow-up care is good, such as the director directly checking the progress, and they really are kinder in the operating room. So far, I don’t regret doing it here. Of course, I haven’t even removed the splint yet, so I think it’s much too early to say anything definitively now. Once the splint is removed and life gets more comfortable, I feel like I won’t come into this community, so I’m writing this in advance. If something comes up and I come back again, I’ll update then.
