Nose Re-Surgery

Autologous costal cartilage surgery scar when you have tattoos

It’s a revision surgery, and I have my surgery date scheduled for late August. I have a lot of large tattoos on my torso, so near the area where the autologous costal cartilage would be harvested hahaha During the consultation with the director... I asked, since I have a large tattoo on my left flank, could you possibly harvest from the right side? 1. He said that’s something he decides (he answered very coolly, so it was kind of funny) 2. He said he originally harvests from the right side, but I guess each director has a preferred side. 3. And he said if you have tattoos, that’s actually better because the scar is less noticeable. That’s what he answered hahaha If anyone here is planning to use autologous costal cartilage for nose surgery but is worried because they have a lot of tattoos, I’m posting this for reference! +Also, he really hated nose piercings lol I wear a nose ring on my columella (the one commonly called a bull-ring piercing), and I went to the consultation wearing it. The director looked shocked and asked what that was, so I said it was a nose piercing and immediately slipped it out, and he looked baffled but relieved... It seems like columella piercing makes nose surgery much more difficult? I’d already had septal extension once, so I was scared and couldn’t pierce it all the way through anyway lol Hope this is helpful too!
