Since my first implant-free septal surgery about 10 years ago, my septum had been very deviated, and as time passed, the tip of my nose drooped and the deviation became worse, making it increasingly difficult to breathe. So this time, I wanted to improve functional issues such as a deviated septum and inferior turbinate problems as well, and since I was doing it anyway, I also wanted to refine the shape of my nose a little, so I visited several plastic surgery clinics. During my first surgery, I knew nothing and had no preparation, and it felt like I was just pushed into it, so this time I visited many clinics and even organized the consultation details in Excel while looking into everything very carefully. (If you are curious about my criteria for choosing a clinic, please refer to my previous post.) While looking into several clinics, I met Director Seo Seungjo, who honestly told me what could not be done without overtreatment and whose aesthetic standards matched mine well, so I started leaning toward Weverse. I also liked that the anesthesia was sedation + local anesthesia instead of general anesthesia. What I felt during the consultation was that he is someone sensitive about surgical technique and aesthetic sense. But after coming home and searching in a community, I was shocked to see the nickname “Deviation Seungjo,” so I even asked the consultant directly. (Of course, he also has the nickname “Nose Seungjo.”) At that time, the consultant did not blindly defend the director and fully empathized with my anxiety, and thanks to that, I was able to think a little more rationally. Rather, through that conversation, I came to think this: 1. A clinic that does not request deletion even when bad reviews are posted. 2. If a doctor performs many cases, there can naturally be unfavorable reviews too. Wouldn’t it be stranger if there were only good reviews? 3. I also had my first rhinoplasty done by a director who was called a “god,” but I remember it failed because of incorrect surgical technique ^^.. 4. During my first surgery, I did not know my nose was deviated, and after surgery, as my nose became higher and the deviation looked more noticeable, I had the experience of thinking, “My nose became deviated after surgery.” This time, since I was getting deviated nose correction and functional improvement together, I actually worried less, and after much consideration, I ultimately chose this clinic. My needs were to slightly raise the nasal tip with autologous costal cartilage while correcting it so that my nostrils would show less from the front. Since I did not want to use silicone, considering the step-off that could occur where the bridge and tip of the nose meet, donor dermis (Megaderm 1.5 mm) was placed there. I also clearly told the director from the beginning that I had no desire for much height. But I did bring a photo of Shin Sekyung.... I was very scared because I heard autologous costal cartilage surgery hurts at the rib harvest site, but the consultant said that among the director’s patients, many people say their nose hurts more than the autologous rib area. That was me; I think the incision was about 1.3~5 cm, but there was no pain there, and only my nose hurt for about two days. I think the director’s technique is good. I do not think I need to worry about the scar either. I am very satisfied with the surgical result. I was only thinking about improvement, but he made my nose aesthetically pretty. I am glad I brought the Shin Sekyung photo. At my 2-week progress check, I was looking at the before-and-after monitor and was muttering to myself, “Wow, how did he do this?” My nostrils show less from the front, and my nose became neat, natural, and pretty. If my nostrils do not show at all, my face looks older, so that subtle difference is difficult, but he got it exactly right. Also, during the consultation I casually mentioned that it stresses me out when my philtrum looks long, and I do not know if the director paid attention to that, but I feel like my philtrum also became subtly shorter. Even my mom was happy, saying I really met the right director. It was that successful of a surgery. Most importantly, I can breathe well!!!! Around week 2 after surgery, I said that my glabella looked too high because of the donor dermis, and the director said, “It will be absorbed within a month, so do not worry.” Looking at other people’s reviews, many ask for the donor dermis not to be absorbed, but in my case, I was actually thinking, “Please absorb…!” My worries turned out to be unnecessary, and it is being absorbed. (Because it was placed very thinly just to reinforce the step-off, absorption is fast.) They say donor dermis can not only be used to fill a step-off, but also raise the height of the nasal bridge to some extent. But he said whether this feels uneven or is accepted naturally differs by person… and now that I am in week 3, I think I understand what that means. The feeling of absorption differs subtly by area. But so far, overall, it feels natural to me, and rather than the smoothness of silicone, I think I actually like this feeling much more. I was told they do not take many surgery patients in a day, and I think that became one of my criteria for choosing the clinic. The consultant was also very kind, and it was comfortable because there was no pressure to book on the same day and no follow-up calls. If anything, I think I was the one clinging to them because I wanted to set the surgery date quickly haha I hope Director Seo Seungjo, my nose-father, sheds the stigma of “Deviation Seungjo” and is reborn as “Nose Seungjo.” God of sense.
