First of all, after my first double eyelid surgery left me with an overdone, deeply fixed sausage-like double eyelid, I was looking into monolid surgery and went there after seeing an ad.
During the consultation, they confidently said they could definitely remove the double eyelid and that I could return to monolids, and in reality the surgery did completely remove the double eyelid.
But what I later found out was that this is a surgery where they incise just above the eyelashes and remove eyelid tissue to the point that it becomes impossible to create a line in a later revision surgery, and it can cause functional problems like the eyes not closing, so it should be considered only as an absolute last resort.
I didn’t have functional side effects or dissatisfaction with the shape,
but if I had known this part during the consultation, I don’t think I would have had the surgery.
