It’s now day 3 after surgery. I had zygoma revision surgery and a facelift... with 10 cm incisions in front of each ear, a surgery that pulls the whole face tight lol When I took an X-ray before surgery, my cheekbones were that much of a mess. They had been botched a long time ago ㅠㅠ and my 45-degree cheekbones were completely asymmetrical tooㅠㅠ The surgery took 5 hours, under sedation. Today is the day with the worst swelling, but already I can see my facial contour looking smoother, so I’m in a good mood and uploading photos. I covered quite a lot because I was worried my face might get exposed for no reason;; haha please understand I had jaw and zygoma contouring in early 2007, and it was properly botched. At the time, I told my family it looked like I had been injured in an accident, because my facial swelling was so severe, and the blood bruising around my eyes now would not even have counted as bruising back then. Both eyes would not open for 3 days, I couldn’t do anything, my lips swelled like blood sausage and drooped down below my chin, and I kept drooling. I really looked like a monster. I’ve been a member of this community for a long time, but I’ve never seen photos as severe as mine from back then haha Anyway, after going through all that suffering and after the swelling went down, the result was disastrous. I took an X-ray and was speechless. For the jaw, they had only chopped off about 1 cm at the back? really just a tiny fingernail-sized amount, and the cheekbone depression was severe. The area in front of my ear was completely shaped like an ㄹ like that, so from the front my face was still wide and flat, and I had to cover my sideburn area with my hair... When I went to the hospital and confronted them, they said since it wasn’t nerve damage or anything like that, I couldn’t sue, and revision surgery wasn’t possible either. My usually blunt father came home after drinking, looked at my face, and cried his eyes out. I suffered so badly that my condition was worse than the Fan Lady, and I really felt like I’d been robbed in broad daylight. To get to the point, 3 days ago, I had zygoma revision surgery and a facelift. (Actually, I had also had a facelift somewhere else 2 years ago. But back then they supposedly cut barely 2 cm above the ear and removed less than about 1 cm, so I saw no effect at all and it only hurt terribly.) The photos were taken on my phone, so they came out a bit softer, but in reality my face was really severely uneven and bumpy. I always had to cover it with my hair, and because the sides of my head protrude, when I wore my hair down my face looked even bigger, but even if I tied it up, I absolutely had to cut bangs and let all the side hair down to cover the sideburn area. As I got older, because of the facial contouring I had before, my cheeks started sagging, and on top of that, the fat grafting I had in June kept settling lower, so I really looked like Dooly, looked older, and everyone who saw me said my face was big and told me to lose cheek fat. It was extremely stressful. So I really made up my mind and went through with it. After suffering so much after my previous contouring surgery, I was scared and just lived with it, but I felt I really couldn’t anymore... (But this time at the hospital, when I looked at photos, there were actually quite a few botched cases where the surgery left a stepped contour like mine. Inexperienced doctors are scared of touching the joint area in front of the ear by the cheekbone, so they cut too far forward and the area in front of the ear is left protruding as it was; anyone planning zygoma surgery, please really be most careful about this and research it thoroughly before doing it.) Anyway, because I’d been through such awful suffering, I was so, so scared, but the result is that the surgery is worth doing. I had it under sedation. Because it was zygoma revision surgery, it took 2 hours, and for the facelift, they made incisions of about 10 cm on both sides from above the ear to below the ear, pulled up the cheeks and jawline fat, and cut it all away. They said they cut away as much as they would for a woman in her 70s. Before surgery it didn’t look that severe, but once they went into surgery, they said there was so much to cut that it was difficult, according to the nurse and doctor. lolol Because of the stitching time, this took 3 hours, and in total the surgery under sedation took a little over 5 hours. But it’s doable. I had two procedures, and my period had not fully ended, so I bled a lot too, but even then it was only this much. If you only have one procedure, there probably won’t be much swelling and it really may not hurt. I’ve even had breast surgery, but I was really nervous about this surgery. How can they do cheekbones under sedation ㅠ And thinking about them cutting 10 cm in front of each ear... shudder I was so nervous that I couldn’t sleep well for 3 days before going in for surgery. But it didn’t hurt much, and only on the day of surgery, when I slept, the incised areas around my ears throbbed a bit, but it was okay. I’m taking the bus by myself to a hospital an hour away, and I’m blending whatever food I can and spooning it up. To me, this level of swelling doesn’t even count as swelling lol I can live with it lol I’ll post again as the swelling goes down. I’m in my early 30s now, and I feel like I look younger, so I’m really happy lol
