1 month after genioplasty at an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic

This is my review one month after genioplasty at an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic. When I was young, a dentist told me I had mandibular hypoplasia and needed double-jaw surgery, but double-jaw surgery felt like too major an operation and I was scared. Since a severe recessed chin was my complex, I looked into surgeries that could improve it and learned about advancement genioplasty. The reviews for the clinic were good, so I made a consultation appointment, and after the consultation, the consultant and doctor explained everything in detail and were kind, so I booked the surgery right away that day. They said I was a double-jaw surgery case, but I had no desire to have double-jaw surgery, so we decided to proceed with advancement genioplasty. After surgery, I swelled a lot. Compared with weeks 1-2, a lot of the swelling has gone down now at one month, but there is still some swelling left. At first, I couldn’t open my mouth wide and chewing was difficult, but now my mouth opens to some extent, and except for foods that are too hard or tough, I eat well. Sensation has not fully returned yet, and I think it is gradually coming back little by little. The operated area is still a little uncomfortable. It seems to be getting better little by little. I’m glad that my complex, the severe recessed chin, seems to have improved. After living with a recessed chin for over 20 years, suddenly having a chin makes my face look long, but when I look at the chin itself, it is not a long chin, so I think I just haven’t gotten used to it yet. As time passes, I can see it improving more and more, so I’m looking forward to the changes ahead.
