Over the course of 2 weeks, I visited 7 clinics in person. I thought it might be helpful, so I’m posting my consultation review. First, my nose is a crooked nose + bulbous nose + slight dorsal hump + low bridge and a high tip + rather large and long + drooping tip. Thick skin + small septal cartilage. And my eyes have a natural double eyelid, but the eyes themselves are small, so I’m told they look cramped and sleepy. My eyes and nose are completely natural, with no procedures or surgery at all, and this is my first surgery. I hope this helps, and if you have questions, ask anything.
1. Deo ㅇ (Kim ㅌㅅ) - 4-doctor clinic - The manager was kind. The wait was moderate. No CT was taken. One side-profile photo was taken. - An anesthesiologist is on site. - I wanted eye + nose consultation, but the booking team made a mistake and only booked a nose consultation. (For eyes, the surgeon is in charge of other surgeons, so I could not consult.) The surgeon consultation was about 10 minutes. - They used a bridge implant (silicone) + tip cartilage (ear cartilage & rib cartilage), and for cadaver rib cartilage vs autologous rib cartilage, the patient could choose (the surgeon recommended autologous rib cartilage). - They never actually touched my nose, and only used a cotton swab once to hold it. They drew the post-op line with a pencil on the side-profile photo and showed me. - Fast talking + businesslike + mechanical feeling. Seemed busy and tired. - Price was on the expensive side. With the review discount, it was 6.20 million KRW. - Because the bridge under the mask looked nice, I asked, "Did the doctor also get nose surgery?" and he turned cold and snapped at me, saying not to ask pointless questions about anything other than the surgery. I felt extremely embarrassed and upset. - No consultation fee. Strong push to book.
2. Bab ㅂ (Jo ㅅㅇ) - 2-doctor clinic - A clinic where an acquaintance had their first eye surgery + nose revision last year. - Before consultation, they took CT and photos from multiple angles. No anesthesiologist. - For the eyes, they recommended incision double eyelid + in-out line (slightly higher than now). For the nose, they recommended cadaver rib cartilage + ear cartilage. - As soon as the surgeon came in, he started by feeling the nose and then began the consultation. He pulled up the photos in Photoshop and explained while editing them. - The doctor was kind + gave a detailed consultation + spoke calmly and in an easy-to-understand way for quite a long time. - The manager was kind, but there was some pressure to reserve a surgery date (when I said I wanted surgery soon, they said there were not many available surgery dates left). - Price was so-so. With the review discount + acquaintance discount, eyes 2.49 million + nose 4.99 million. - At first, the combined eye + nose quote was over 10 million KRW, but when I hesitated, they lowered it on their own several times until it became 7.48 million KRW. - No consultation fee. Strong push to book.
3. Did ㅇ (Chu ㅅㅊ) - 1-doctor clinic - Before consultation, 3D CT + photos from multiple angles were taken. No anesthesiologist. - For the eyes, because the force to open the eyes was weak and the forehead muscles were being used, they recommended a forehead lift. - For the nose, they said the nasal bone itself was crooked, so they recommended custom silicone (Innofit) + septal cartilage. (If they open it and the nasolabial angle is insufficient, they may additionally use ear cartilage or rib cartilage, and extra material costs may apply.) - The price was not bad. With partial disclosure on the website and the review discount, forehead lift 2.75 million + nose 4.17 million. - The surgeon and manager were very kind + explained things in detail + carefully repeated them step by step. They seemed to prioritize safety. They spent a long time consulting with me (surgeon more than 30 minutes + manager more than 1 hour). I stayed at the clinic for about 2 hours. - Because of the Innofit fabrication, normally you have to visit one week before surgery and make the shape together with the surgeon, but the doctor came out in the middle of the surgery day (for about 3 to 5 minutes while the patient was under anesthesia) and made the shape in advance. - The burden of a forehead lift + seeing them do additional consultation in the middle while the patient was lying down made me think... not really... - No consultation fee. Strong push to book. (Later they also messaged me on KakaoTalk, seeming to pressure me about whether I had decided and when I would decide.)
4. Eㅍ (Eyes - No ㅇㅈ, Nose - Hong ㅈㅁ) - 2-doctor clinic - Before consultation, 3D CT + photos from multiple angles were taken. No anesthesiologist. (They said autologous rib cartilage is also done under sedation.) - For the eyes, they recommended incision ptosis correction. For the nose, silicone + cadaver rib cartilage. - Eye surgeon: adjusted the double eyelid line 3 to 4 times and left quickly. (At most 2 to 3 minutes?) - Nose surgeon: extremely fast speech + drew the line on the side-profile photo + very high energy. (They said they are calm and composed during surgery.) + He brought my question sheet and answered everything quickly while looking at it. (About 15 minutes of consultation) - The consultation manager also spoke quickly (this place seems to have fast speech as its 특징). The clinic itself seemed busy and a bit crowded. - Price was on the high side. With partial disclosure on the website and the review discount, eyes 1.50 million + nose, based on cadaver rib cartilage, 5.10 million (autologous rib cartilage was 6.40 million). - The unusual point was that they said the material cost for cadaver rib cartilage is undisclosed. (They only said it was in the mid-1 million KRW range.) - If you make a surgery reservation, since the eye and nose doctors are different, their schedules need to be coordinated. - No consultation fee. No strong push to book.
5. Ma ㅇㅌ (Park ㅈㅎ) - 1-doctor clinic - Before consultation, 3D CT was taken / no photos. No anesthesiologist. (They said autologous rib cartilage is also done under sedation.) - A clinic famous for autologous rib cartilage, and the surgeon strongly recommends autologous rib cartilage whether it is a first surgery or revision. - They said the surgeon has the mindset of not letting people need revision surgery, and the surgeon has good aesthetic sense. The consultation was extremely thorough and attentive. (He touched the eye line many times + touched the nose a lot. It was the place that handled and examined the nose the most during consultation.) - For the eyes, they recommended brow lift + incision ptosis correction (a semi-out line close to in-out) + epicanthoplasty for removing the Mongolian fold (I asked about lateral and lower canthoplasty, but after thinking about it, they said to do it later if it becomes necessary.) - For the nose, silicone + autologous rib cartilage. They were the only place that recommended alar reduction. - Price was expensive. With the review discount, eyes 5.80 million + nose 5.40 million. - CCTV: must be requested in advance (fee 100,000 KRW) - The surgeon was kind and detailed during consultation (about 30 to 40 minutes / total consultation time 2 hours). The wait for consultation was long. (Waited 1 hour for the surgeon consultation.) - The manager pushed very hard to make a reservation. - If you book on the same day, there is an additional discount (cancellation possible until 7 days before), and if you make a confirmed non-cancellable reservation, there is an even bigger discount. Same-day reservation gets an additional 400,000 KRW off the total quote (if you make a confirmed reservation by this week, an additional 800,000 KRW off the same-day total). - The price was high, but I liked the surgeon consultation very much, so I made a non-confirmed same-day reservation. (Deposit: 500,000 KRW) - When booking the consultation, you have to pay a 10,000 KRW consultation fee to confirm the appointment.
6. Ppeul ㄹ (Kim ㅈㅎ) - 1-doctor clinic - Before consultation, 3D CT was taken / photos from multiple angles. No anesthesiologist. - For the eyes, they recommended incision ptosis correction + front epicanthoplasty + incision double eyelid. - For the nose, Fitme (custom silicone) 4.5 mm + rib cartilage + a little septal cartilage (if septal cartilage cannot be used, ear cartilage will be used instead). - The custom silicone is made based on the CT scan (production takes 5 days). - For rib cartilage, the patient can choose cadaver rib cartilage or autologous rib cartilage. (If cadaver rib cartilage is used, they said they write an tissue grafting result report.) - Price was with the review discount: eyes 2.50 million + nose, based on cadaver rib cartilage, 6.70 million (autologous rib cartilage 7.70 million). If you book in June, they said they would do the nose for 4.80 million. (Whether using cadaver or autologous) - The unique point is that they take a 300,000 KRW review deposit. They said it is because there are people who take the review discount and then do not write the review, but it will be refunded after 6 months. - Also, CCTV can be viewed after signing a recording consent form (fee 50,000 KRW) / it is kept for one month and then discarded. - The surgeon was kind and detailed during consultation (about 20 minutes / total consultation time 1 hour). - No consultation fee. The manager did not push reservations at all.
7. Log ㅇ (Yoon ㅅㄱ) - 1-doctor clinic - Before consultation, 3D CT was taken / photos from multiple angles. No anesthesiologist. - To confirm a consultation appointment, you have to pay a 10,000 KRW consultation fee. - In the application form before consultation, unlike other clinics, there was a field to write the expected estimate. I wrote around 4 million for the nose based on cadaver rib cartilage. As soon as the consultation started, the manager bluntly asked in a somewhat dismissive tone whether I would be doing full disclosure, and said, "Our clinic is a bit expensive~," so I asked how much the estimate would be. Based on cadaver rib cartilage, full disclosure was in the low 5 million range, and partial disclosure was 7 million. When I asked about autologous rib cartilage, they said partial-disclosure autologous rib cartilage would cost 10 million KRW. I felt very annoyed by the continued dismissive and condescending tone and attitude. So I said, "Sorry, but I don't think I’ll take the consultation after all." When they asked why, I said, 'Even though this is my first surgery, the estimate is absurd. It's not like I haven't consulted other clinics, and a first-surgery price higher than revision surgery at other clinics doesn't make sense,' and just left. When I got home, I thought I should have gotten back the 10,000 KRW consultation fee since I hadn’t even been examined... I felt very upset and offended.
