The last double eyelid surgery of my life

If you click my nickname and look at the reviews I wrote before, you’ll know, but I’m someone who suffered for a very long time because of sausage eyes. My first surgery was at a large clinic and it completely failed. After a revision, my eyes became somewhat human-looking, but they were still uneven, so I had a third surgery at the same clinic as the revision clinic. After that I was living satisfied, but after getting a forehead lift, my double eyelid line became high again, so I started looking into a fourth revision. It has now been one month since surgery at Misoline, and I think I’ve finished the last double eyelid surgery of my life. Strangely, when surgery turns out well, I don’t feel like writing a review, but I still wanted to help people who suffered like me + out of gratitude, so I deliberately logged back into this community and am writing a review. During the consultation, the doctor was really blunt. He sighed, saying I had had a forehead lift and multiple revision double eyelid surgeries in my 20s. He didn’t separately draw a double eyelid line for me, answered my questions unfriendly, and seemed to want to end the consultation early. What he emphasized so much that he wrote it large on the consultation record was, “It won’t get worse. But it may not improve.” He told me several times not to expect improvement. If it won’t improve, why get surgery? That’s what I thought. But because my eyes were an extreme case, I actually liked that the doctor predicted the result so conservatively. The conversation with the consultant was not satisfying at all, and the estimate was also high. The consultant had absolutely no intention of discussing me or my eyes with me. Even so, the first reason I chose this clinic was the surgical method. Another clinic recommended the two-line excision method, but I felt that my eyes absolutely did not seem suited for that method. I judged that the method they use here, cutting along the existing line and lowering the fixation, was what I needed. The second reason was that I had gained confidence in the director’s skill from reviews on communities. So, because I desperately wanted to escape sausage eyes, I proceeded with surgery despite the director saying, “It may not improve.” I think I saw a few cases where people were turned away at consultation, and I thought it was fortunate that I wasn’t turned away. There is no review discount, but there is a cash discount. They told me to withdraw cash myself and bring it, so honestly I didn’t think well of that. On the day, I went in for surgery, and the director treated me very kindly, completely unlike how he had seemed during the consultation. It seems he has a belief that he is only kind to his own patients. I also felt a bit uncomfortable that the director suddenly flipped his attitude like turning over his palm and treated me kindly. You might think, why complain when he was being kind, but thinking about the reason, I think it’s because I had been hurt during consultations at other clinics too. I’m the type who makes a big fuss about pain, but he didn’t use sedation at all and proceeded only with local anesthesia, so I was extremely nervous, but the anesthetic injection didn’t hurt at all. It was amazing. During surgery, the director comforted me a lot. He really tried to make me feel at ease. I only had one eye done, and the surgery took about 50 minutes. The pain was about 1 out of 1 to 10. Of the 50-minute surgery time, the design right before surgery took quite a long time. During consultation he hadn’t drawn the line even once, but I could feel that he was really putting effort into setting the line. During the surgical process, he kept having me close and open my eyes. I think he had me do it more than 20 to 30 times, and in the middle he raised the chair about twice to have me sit up and checked the condition of my eyes. After surgery, since I hadn’t had sedation, I was guided to the recovery room fully conscious and looked in the mirror, and I was just so moved. Because it was my fourth double eyelid surgery, I have had double eyelid surgery so many times that I’m sick of it, but the swelling I’d had a lot of before, whether it had been from bleeding during long surgery time + maybe because of sedation anesthesia (I don’t know), was almost nonexistent to the point that I couldn’t believe I had just had surgery. The high line had come down naturally as if nothing had happened. It was just pure emotion.... Somehow all the sadness I had felt, the worries I had, and the time I had spent stressed because of sausage eyes all melted away, and I even felt comforted. I’m not exaggerating; I think anyone who has had their eyes botched like me can feel this emotion. The most important thing is the surgical result. Before surgery, I vaguely worried that if the line fixation was released, maybe the double eyelid would disappear, but the thing I worried about didn’t happen at all. Rather, during the 7-day recovery period after surgery, when I woke up in the morning, I was anxious for a moment that a multiple double eyelid might form when I closed and opened my eyes, but once 7 days passed, the line was completely set, so no multiple double eyelid formed. Because the fixation strength is lower, when I close and open my eyes it looks natural like a natural double eyelid, so now the eye that had surgery is more natural than the eye that didn’t have surgery this time. (The line is not deeply set.) When I show people around me, they get confused about which eye was operated on. And amazingly, both eyes became completely symmetrical... Even though he said there might be no improvement, he achieved such an amazing improvement, and I’m really, really grateful. After searching a lot, I also want to praise myself for doing very well by going to an old, well-known plastic surgery clinic rather than a flashy one. I don’t know about other cases, but I really hope people who have suffered because of sausage eyes will go there for a consultation. Thank you so much, Director Sim Sang-baek.
