I felt empty after being turned away by the two clinics I most wanted, but by chance I got a same-day consultation appointment at clinic P. They said that if I did an incisional double eyelid surgery with a semi-out line, upper epicanthoplasty, and slight fat removal, the double eyelid would come out well, so I booked it and got the surgery.
I got it at a lower price than expected on the condition that I write a review.
Before surgery, I was worried my needs might not be conveyed to the doctor, so I spent the whole week looking up materials, finding photos, and doing all sorts of things, thinking I had to discuss the design clearly. What I wanted was
1. Line: a semi-out line slightly lifted from an in-out line. The front part of the eye line should lift slightly, and the back line should naturally widen more than the space between the front of the eye and the eye, but it should not look pointy or flicked up, and should taper naturally.
2. Line height: my eyes are protruding, and the distance between my eyebrows and eyes is narrow, so a high line does not suit me, but a low line gets buried easily. It had to be a line that was neither too low nor too high.
3. Fat removal: since my eyes are protruding, I was worried that removing fat might make my eyes look sunken later. Only a minimal amount of fat should be removed.
That was it, but once I actually entered the operating room, I could not say a single word. The reason was that before I even brought it up, the doctor said everything I wanted to say first, and the line he marked was exactly the line I wanted. Without any difference in opinion, he said exactly what I had been thinking. Honestly, I was a bit surprised.
I woke up after five minutes of sedation, and as I came to, I was rambling a bit. There was one nurse, and that nurse was so rude. Her way of speaking was the kind where, if she were my younger sibling, I would have wanted to smack the back of her head. It felt like the tone of a younger sister talking back to her older sister. The consultant and director were kind, but the nurse was so rude.
(For reference, I do not know who it was from the call team, but one counselor was also extremely rude and sighed while talking. The other counselors were fine, but only that person was rude. Oh, and one desk staff member other than the consultant was also a bit prickly. I was already anxious and nervous before surgery, and this kind of response makes a person sensitive.)
The surgery itself was not scary. It was comfortable. Maybe because it was a strange experience, the sound of scissors, the feeling of the sutures being stitched, and the smell of burning flesh all felt more interesting than creepy. Including the design and surgery time, it took 2 hours. Honestly, it did not feel like the design and surgery took two hours, so I even wondered if I had been lying there under sedation for around 20 minutes instead of 5 minutes. That is how quickly the time passed.
Right after surgery it was okay, but after about an hour, the burning sensation in my eyes was no joke. As the anesthesia wore off, the pain came, and even when only wind touched it, it felt like being cut with a knife. It also felt like it was burning, and I thought it would be a big problem if this pain continued through the night. But after about three hours, the pain became bearable. I guess my body adapted.
I get the stitches removed in a week, so I will come write another review.
