Below is what I wrote when I had an online consultation~ (I’m undergoing orthodontic treatment, so my mouth looks like it protrudes quite a lot. Rather than the effect of making my mouth look less protruded, please focus on my nose. The difference in skin color is because I’m not wearing makeup.. hahaha ) I had nose surgery 2 months ago. I think the surgical methods applied to my nose were a septal support strut (raising it by 4 mm while also lengthening it), one or two layers of septal cartilage, cartilage tying, and silicone (3 mm from the glabella and 4 mm at the nasal tip). My original nose had a slight upturned-nose tendency, the nasal tip/alar area was somewhat spread out, the tip was slightly bulbous, and I had almost no glabella height. I had no dissatisfaction with my low nasal bridge, lack of glabella height, or side profile; my complaint was that, from the front, the nasal tip was slightly bulbous and did not look gathered. Personally, rather than a large, high nose, I prefer a low nose with a slim tip, so I said that during the consultation. I personally did not want my glabella to become higher or anything like that, and I only wanted the nasal tip to become slimmer, with the minimum silicone height increase needed so it would not look awkward. Also, the doctor told me he would raise it by about 2 mm, but only after surgery did I find out he had raised it more, and after surgery I swelled a lot, so my nose was very large. Because of that, I have been under a lot of stress up to now, 2 months after surgery. Then around 3 weeks, it seemed to become a little slimmer, so I had hope that it would be okay once more swelling went down, but the nasal tip gradually became more bulbous, and even now there is no change. So, foolishly, only after more than a month did I start thinking about removal. Looking at other people’s reviews too, about 1 month after surgery the nasal tip is the slimmest, but after 6 months it actually looks more bulbous. Now that it has been 2 months, I think the shape has mostly settled. There is no more change now. Both the doctor who operated on me and other doctors I consulted said I should wait 6 months for removal to be done without undue difficulty, so I plan to wait 6 months. But it has only been two months and the stress is so great, and I pay excessive attention to my nose to the point that it interferes with daily life. Also, the doctor who operated on me says that even if it is removed, it will almost return to my original nose, but he still says the shape change cannot be predicted, and when I consulted other doctors, they were mostly negative, so I’m very sad. If I could get the slim nose I want through revision surgery, I don’t know, but everyone says the surgery turned out fairly well, so if my nose is going to be bulbous anyway, I would rather go back to my old nose. After surgery, other people say the nose shape itself has improved. I also think it is a positive change that my nostrils show less. But everyone says my nose has not become slimmer, and I myself feel that the nasal ala/the bulbous middle part of my nose, like a cherry tomato, looks the same or larger. Other people say they are stressed because their noses became too slim, but mine was not a slim nose to begin with, and since my nose actually and visually looks bigger, my satisfaction after surgery is 0. On the other hand, the glabella area looks so obviously operated on that it is unnatural, so the correction I wanted was not achieved, while only the signs of plastic surgery show, which makes me very dissatisfied. Especially because I had surgery to correct my nose shape to be a bit slimmer, but it feels like my original bulbousness remained as is, only my nostrils show less and the size increased. I wanted my nose to become slimmer and more feminine, but instead I ended up with a more masculine imageㅜㅜ With appearance, subjective satisfaction is important, but after surgery I became even farther from the shape I wanted, so I’m very distressed and regret my decision. And after surgery, while consulting other plastic surgeons, I realized my aesthetic viewpoint is unusual, and I’m so scared that even if I have another revision surgery, communication with the doctor will not go well and I’ll keep having surgery until my nose collapses. If possible, I want removal rather than revision surgery. However, because my original nose showed my nostrils, I’m really worried that after removal the condition will become much worse than my original nose (like my nostrils showing more, or my nose becoming too large). 1) When you look at my original nose, was my current operated appearance the best possible? I’m curious whether the surgical result was poor, or whether my nose was never able to become sharp at the tip through nose surgery in the first place. 2) If I have revision surgery, can the nasal tip become slimmer than before? However, I want to lower the support strut more; I do not want to raise it more than now (4 mm) and make my nose bigger. If I do have revision surgery, when would be best? 3) If removing the support strut is too dangerous, could removing the silicone and cartilage from the current state and lowering the support strut make the nasal tip sharper than it is now? (One doctor said it would become more bulbous regarding this.) 4) I had extremely severe swelling after surgery; would someone like me also develop a lot of scar tissue? 5) What would you do? (Just live with it / revision surgery / removal) Because these are face photos, I’ll take them down soon.
